NPM is used by our IT Department to monitor numerous server and network metrics and alert us when certain alarms are triggered. It is used primarily for monitoring servers, virtualization and network infrastructure devices.
- Monitor storage utilization of servers.
- Monitor virtualization performance metrics.
- Trigger alarms when metrics fall below specific limits.
- The time required to fully configure for even basic benefits could be reduced.
- Setting up more advanced features is difficult with a large learning curve.
- Finding affordable consultants to assist with deployment is difficult.
- What previously required a person to manually monitor on a daily, weekly or monthly basis is now monitored automatically 24/7.
- Documentation and evidence of monitoring for audit purposes is much easier to produce.
