Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor
Having SolarWinds in our environment has been very helpful as you can see issues across the environment and prove or disprove something very quickly and easily. The reporting and alerting have been helpful in finding and resolving issues.
- Monitors system health like CPU, memory, and disk space.
- Alerts on various issues that you can configure.
- Reporting and trending of device performance.
- Coming from 10+ years using Nagios there is definitely a learning curve to getting up to speed with SolarWinds.
- It's not quick and easy to learn and takes time to fully understand how to manage the software.
- Make the UI easier to navigate to find various options and settings.
- Significant improvements in database performance after implementing SolarWinds as we can present poorly written queries to developers.
- Allowed us to better track global website performance.
- Good metrics and reporting data for server performance.
We tried What's Up Gold for a brief amount of time, but selected SolarWinds at the time. Having demo'd other tools like New Relic and Dynatrace I think SolarWinds' UI could use some improvements and some ease of use updates to make it easier to set up and manage.
SolarWinds' pricing made it a good option for what we needed at the time and allowed us to get all of our monitoring from 1 place vs. too many different apps.
