Overall Satisfaction with Spotlight

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Spotlight for two main reasons; first, it is syncs with Xero accounting system so most of our clients are on Xero. Second, it has a easy to use interface and lots of different report packages. We meet with out clients on monthly, quarterly basis and use Spotlight for financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting.

Cons

Cash Flow analysis could be better, there are many different scenarios to calculate the cash flow but flexibility is not great.
Incorporating machine learning algorithms for predictive analytics could enhance forecasting accuracy

Usability

the platform offers a clean, easy to use interface. You can customize reports and dashboard. Integration is also pretty good, you can integrate to Xero, QBO and MYOB and excel spreadsheets. It also offers very broad supporting documents and webinars. There are only two downside of Spotlight; learning curve (it could be a bit difficult at the beginning to learn the system) and price point (For small businesses, Spotlight Reporting can be seen as relatively expensive compared to other reporting tools).

Alternatives Considered

Fathom and Float Cash Flow

Spotlight is more usable, better at meeting requirements. Integration with Xero is one of the strengths (as others integrate too but Spotlight seems better connection). We also like the way group consolidation work in Spotlight. If your focus is on comprehensive, flexible, and visually rich reports and dashboards for multiple clients or entities, Spotlight is a clear choice.

most important factor was the integration with Xero which is the accounting system we use for accounting and financials. Spotlight is very easy to use too but there are other softwares as easy as Spotlight and user interface are pretty good. however, not all reporting systems integrate with Xero as native as Spotlight.

Evaluation Lessons Learned

I would not change my evaluation process, as mentioned, Spotlight is very easy to use, great integration with Xero and reporting packages, templates cover different needs and different purposes which is more than sufficient for us.
