Overall Satisfaction with Taleo

We currently use Taleo as our Applicant Tracking System. It is used by our whole organization. Prior to Taleo, AZZ had not had an applicant tracking system so positions were posted manually on our website, candidates were received via email, and approvals for requisitions and offers were done via a paper trail. Taleo did meet all of these needs and is generally pretty user friendly. Since we went from no applicant tracking system to having one, it helped a lot. Additionally, resumes that were previously received were generally only reviewed for the position they originally applied for and then were filed away either in a manual or electronic file that was more than likely never seen by anyone again. Now, we can search Taleo for relevant candidates for any position.
  • Taleo does a good job of organizing the Home "My View" page so you can see what is most important to you at a glance.
  • Taleo does a good job in being able to track where each candidate is in the job process.
  • Taleo makes it easy to send candidates to those within the organization that need to view them. You can select hiring managers already entered in the system or CC/BCC those not in the system already.
  • There is often glitches in the system where we cannot select the options to narrow searches for resumes or requisitions.
  • When we preview a resume using the quick view magnifying glass and try to change the status of the candidate, the screen that pops up freezes and won't let us scroll to the bottom. Pushing tab and enter will get you out of the page so is a work around, but annoying.
  • I wish that offer letters were easier to configure. I enter in all the info that Taleo asks for but the pre-generated offer it gives often needs cleaning up. It would be nice if when you plug in the information you could see a "pre-view" of the offer while still on the page you enter information so if something needed editing you could do it there.
  • We were not good at tracking any numbers around recruiting so now this last year we have been able to set the benchmark that we now can work toward improving.
  • At any given time, we could not say how many open positions we had. Now we are able to keep track of that.
  • We do a much better job with communicating with candidates now, especially the ones not selected. This will help us maintain a better reputation and attract the candidates back for other jobs they may be a better fit for in the future.
I think that OpenHire and Taleo both have good features and features that need improvement. I think that OpenHire is probably a better fit for smaller or midsized organizations and Taleo is better for large organizations. Because of our company wanting to be exclusively on an Oracle platform, we chose Taleo. I didn't really have an option to go with anyone else.
I think for larger companies where you have a lot of budget for the system and making it more configurable then it may be a good option. Since we are a midsized company, I think another ATS may have been a better fit for us but we use Oracle for most of our platforms and eventually when we get everything up and running for the on-boarding it will make it easier.
