We wanted a SAST tool to evaluate and eliminate the security threats that might or might not be present in our products. We are determined to make our products secure. We did not have any SAST tool so this process consisted of a team of 10 so that we evaluate what is out there and make the right decision that is good for the company. It was detailed research and evaluation of a bunch of SAST tools. It took roughly about 3 to 6 months.

I have checked a couple of review websites, I like the TrustRadius the most. Its simple and easy to use. Importantly the reviews itself are valuable and guides you in making the right decision. It lets you go through the reviews at your pace. However, other websites would pop-up notifications, ads which is kind of distracting.
I did not use analyst report and rankings.
I would spend sometime in reading the product reviews, videos(if any) to understand more about the product before making the purchase decision. In addition, we would like to understand the price range of the products, which sometimes the driving factor. I would love to evaluate the products before making the decision so that I can have a first hand experience.
