Overall Satisfaction with UltraEdit

My department (along with a majority of our IT related groups) use UltraEdit on a daily basis to troubleshoot a majority of the files we process and deal with. It's extremely useful from opening and viewing the simplest .txt file or review lines of complex code or log file records. It has a create customizable UI and tons of useful tools for reviewing data.

Pros

  • For first time users the interface can be a little overwhelming
  • Help to minimize time spent troubleshooting data

As a program UltraEdit comes ready to use out of the box and requires very little setup for it to be extremely useful. It's flexibility among a wide array of tasks and files makes it a go-to for all our troubleshooting and data viewing needs. Timely updates and great support.
Haven't had much need to reach out to support for the program since it's generally a self serve product, but the few times we've needed help their support has been quick to respond and solve our problem.
When compared to most file editing programs UltraEdit usually comes out on top for being extremely flexible and feature-rich. We depend on it every day and although we have several other editors available to us we seem to always go back to this time and time again. Very reliable and it never crashes.
Extremely helpful viewing and troubleshooting data and lines of code. Easy to parse out messages and display information in a uniform manner. Great customization capability of the UI to make it work specifically for the tasks related to your job. The dark background on the newest version is very easy on the eyes.
