Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
I use UniTrends for my entire organization to backup all mission critical systems.
Pros
- When the appliance is working it seems to backup systems pretty well.
- The user interface is intuitive.
- I can set it up and forget it. The systems alerts me if there are any issues.
Cons
- I cannot recover individual mailboxes in Exchange email.
- The system could use better documentation (more complete and more accurate)
- System implementation and software upgrades are error prone and take an inordinate amount of resources to support.
- I have used backups to recover critical software libraries and directories.
- When it is working right it does its job.
It was a system that provided a complete backup solution for all my VMs and standalone servers at an affordable price. The maintenance costs have gone up considerably though.
