Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
We are using Unitrends as our enterprise backup solution covering four locations. Unitrends allows us to meet compliance requirements for retention of backup as well as offsite storage of backup media. The ability of the appliance to convert a backup to a virtual machine in the event of a disaster has simplified our Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.
- Simplified backups. Once set, the backups run without a hitch.
- Disaster recovery - allows us to convert a backup image on the appliance to a virtual machine with minimal downtime.
- Reporting - Reports are clear and concise. The dashboard image allows us to verify backups at a glance.
- More clarification in the event of a failed backup. Error messages are sometime vague and require a support call to resolve. More detailed error messages would allow us to resolve the issue ourselves.
- Support seems to need additional staffing. Return calls for issues should not take hours.
- DR planning does not require additional hardware to be onsite or for us to settle for what is immediately available in the event of a disaster. The appliance acting as a virtual machine makes planning and recovery a breeze.
- Backups are more stable than with previous solutions. Once configured, our problems with failed backups have been minimal allowing staff to focus on issues other than failed backups
- Cost point and upgradability are outstanding. The support plan allows us to stay current with hardware and software with a minimal investment instead of having an appliance and software that becomes dated over time.
