Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

Veeam does all our physical server and virtual server backups and recovery processes. It manages our daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly backups on a planned and scheduled pattern and it targets our Quantum DXI replicated pairs. The problem that it solves is our disaster recovery and planning - it keeps our data safe and secure in our data center.
  • Virtual server backups.
  • Easy to use.
  • Good workflows.
  • The dashboard on viewing backups and count/failures need to be better.
  • Easy way to delete backups from the target device.
  • Saved us money over our the previous solution.
  • Couldn't actually recover backups out of Backup exec, and we just restored a whole server just the other day.
  • Saved our ticketing system after it completely failed.
Where to start, Veeam actually works. Under our full load, Veeam just works and works well with few errors. Backup exec only started worked well after we took 80% of the load off of it. Before you say we under spec'd it, we gave it 3 servers that were super beefy, Veeam has 1 server that is 1/3 the spec of 1 of the backup exec servers.
Virtual environments and cloud targets for restores - mainly to Azure and AWS need more work. Veeam needs better tape direct into cold storage into AWS or Backblaze.
