Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
I work as an IT specialist and support the work of the infrastructure of several companies—as a rule, they are medium, small or start-up businesses. The infrastructure is usually raised on the hypervisors that Veeam supports, and this decision has become de facto for me. Earlier, I really missed the jobs function in the free version. The Community Edition version has become a godsend for me. I reserve VM,s got email notification and I can not worry. Those companies that have a large number of virtual machines and servers can allow purchasing a complete product.
Pros
- Easy to install.
- Works quickly and has an easy jobs configuration.
Cons
- Earlier, I saw some problems in nesting depth (default 14 and I had some problems when I changed it). Some time is needed for replication and I had some errors.
- If the full backup was deleted early and the job was started, Veeam didn't automatically do a full backup. I would get an error and do a full backup manually.
- In Russia, Veeam (1500 via a typical server ) is a very big price. If it was $100-200 I think there would be many buyers. But Community Edition is good for small businesses, and big businesses can buy it.
In typical companies, I usually serve about 3-7 virtual machines. In one of the companies, there are more than 20 virtual machines, but we only backup the necessary ones.
The copies take up quite a bit of space but the place is running out of steam (we have 2-3 TD, BD, etc. ) since the second full backup is done by default. But it is correct. It does not need to be changed.
I have not tried it yet. So far I've only had to recover some files.
I have tried Veeam for Exchange.
