Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use Veeam as one component of our backup and disaster recovery strategy. Veeam is used to perform daily (and sometimes, depending on the application, hourly) backups of our Virtual Machines as well as several bare-metal servers. We transitioned over from BackupExec as we moved to a more virtualized environment with more data. Veeam allows us to have our data ready to spin up at a moment's notice, as well as provide the ability to store backups on another form of media which we can take offsite, in addition to the live backups. We experienced a ransomware attack several years ago, and Veeam helped us get back to business quickly and without too many headaches. The product works as advertised and doesn't require specialized hardware, although specialized hardware is able to run it. We currently only back up Windows VMs and bare-metal servers, but is also expandable to backup everything from Salesforce to Microsoft 365.

We currently back up 6 virtual workloads and 6 physical workloads. We expected to be able to only back up the 6 physical workloads, but since it works so well and since our schedules are planned out well, we were able to back up more than that. We had the storage and decided to give it a try, and it worked well.

- While Veeam does cost, it's more affordable than other offerings, and provides an excellent value for the price.
The vendor for our business system stated they used Veeam internally, and we were looking to replace our aging BackupExec deployment. Our current deployment could only back up physical servers, and wasn't the most affordable solution. Veeam provided better value for us, considering our business and how we use the backup software, so we decided to test it. Testing was successful, and we decided to mvoe forward with Veeam to protect our virtualized infrastructure.
We have no used the cloud backup capabilities of Veeam - we handle offsite storage using physical media that we manually take off-site. In the future, we may investigate cloud storage and see if it fits our budget and needs, but at this time, the way we have Veeam set up is more than sufficient for the company's needs.
We have not used this feature as we do not have any NAS or file shares in-house.
