Overall Satisfaction with Visual Studio Test Professional

Visual Studio Test Professional is being used within my branch (in a single department) as part of developing a GUI to be utilized by air traffic personnel (especially for maintenance planning). The GUI will be capable of being displayed on multiple platforms, in which real-time data of various navigation approach systems will be accessible to air traffic across the contiguous United States.

Pros

  • Multi-platform development capabilities
  • No need for additional plug-ins
  • Real-time code debugging capabilities
  • Supports many different programming languages
  • Auto-populate functionality
  • Intuitive and user friendly design
  • Very easy to create libraries

Cons

  • Requires a lot of RAM/memory
  • The need to reboot one's computer following an update is cumbersome.
  • Very expensive, therefore, likely not accessible to single-users/small start-up businesses
  • Provided an all-encompassing platform for coding.
  • Gave my team the ability to create a complex GUI that's user-friendly.
  • The debugging capability has saved my teams hours of time when working through the coding process.
Eclipse is great for Linux users, and it's considered more "lightweight" (less memory usage) in comparison to the "heavier" Visual Studio (more memory usage). Eclipse has a great auto-finish capability used when writing code. OutSystems is great to use when writing for mobile apps; however, the price of the product far exceeds any of the other benefits.
My team has always been able to troubleshoot with the help of customer support (and even schedule a virtual meeting!) in a timely manner. The support is provided immediately and with the necessary knowledge to answer/solve any questions/problems I or my team experience.
Extremely user-friendly platform. This interface was designed to be intuitive. The functionality of the various capabilities is consistent, making it easier to learn.

Due to the ability to code using various programming languages, this tool is good for businesses to integrate tacross many different needs/applications, as well as various employee skill-sets. This tool may be less appropriate for single-users/start-ups since it requires hardware/firmware with enough power/space to support its use.
