Overall Satisfaction with VMTurbo Operations Manager

We have chosen to deploy VMTurbo across our entire production environment. This environment is the backbone for all of our Cloud Services. VMturbo was specifically put in place to address the needs we had to fill. The first problem was to provide a detailed capacity management and forecasting ability to our service. Secondly, we are striving to achieve the highest level of consolidation in our environment.
  • The first thing VMTurbo does well is that it essentially works out of the box and is simple to deploy. In this current IT landscape, we are littered with overly complicated systems that take an army of people to install and manage. VMTurbo is the polar opposite.
  • In a services orientated organization, being able to stay ahead of customer demand is paramount. VMTurbo allows us to properly model incoming workloads to ensure that we have adequate resources.
  • The unique way that VMTurbo looks at resources and consumers allows is to be extremely efficient in the way which it can manage and balance an environment.
  • The one thing that I would have liked more control over, was some of the thresholds and weighing of different variables that VMTurbo uses to balance the system.
  • A multi-tenant, customer portal to present metric data would be a fantastic thing to have.
  • VMTurbo has allowed us to allowed us to reach an excess of 30% gain in efficiency, which translates out to being able to generate 30% greater revenue on existing assets.
  • Just the capacity planning piece has freed up over 120 man hours per year to be able to work on other projects.
Prior to our implementation of VMTurbo, we had a team of architects that were solely responsible for owning our cloud environment's assets. Whenever a new customer was on-boarded or a support issue came about, this team would have to engage and do a full systems review to ensure the optimal performance. Since deploying VMTurbo we have been able to grow our trusts in the product and move this functionality to the software.
I am happy to say that VMturbo was the first and only product that we tested.
For all the good that VMTurbo is, there are definite scenarios for which it is good for and others for which it is not as well suited. For a system on hundreds of servers and thousands of VMs or a highly dynamite environment, VMTurbo is almost a must. However, in a small environment that does not change often, VMTurbo is a bit much. Think of driving a Lamborghini as a commuted car.

One of the most streamlined and simple implementations that I have ever been a part of. We used VMTurbo to assist with the implementation and they are not only a grade A software company, their professional services wing is also grade A.

Change management was minimal - We already have a fairly well defined and optimized change management process, so the impact to the implementation was minimal.
  • Finding the time for resources to work on the project.
  • Making sure that our operational team was fully trained and ready to take over the product once the implementation is complete.
