Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security

WatchGuard is used as an external and, more recently, as an internal firewall. We have the Total Security Suite, which addresses all our security problems : basic firewalling, antivirus, anti-spam, DPI, etc.

Pros

  • Efficient firewalling : easy to use and quickly functional
  • Easy VPN SSL implementation
  • Traffic analysis with Dimension

Cons

  • Renaming aliases used in policies
  • Creating customs policies is a bit tricky
  • Merging policies
  • It does what it must: protecting the network
We just worked with a local partner for the very first implementation, but the team is fully independent by now. We only get back to our partner with complex things to do, but the product in itself allows us to easily put things right.
It's really an easy to use product. All things were done quickly and smoothly.
You don't have to spent hours to deal with contracts renewal, or managing multiple products to get it working. It does not say that you don't need others security products, but you can have a highly protected network with something simple.
We have used WatchGuard for a long time. We switched from an old Cisco PIX 520. It was night and day between the two : less clicks, friendly admin interface, and automatic sorting of rules.

High protection for a network, with easy to use security layers. Creating Branch Office VPN between small sites and the main site. Firewall cluster with redundant WLAN access on distant sites.
