Overall Satisfaction with Workfront
- Centralize projects in one solution
- Manage digital work processes
- Review and approve digital work
- Deliver client-facing services
The biggest thing that Workfront helps with in our organization is capacity planning. We are able to plan our projects out 6-8 months in advance because we know who will be available to work on a project and has really helped us streamline timelines and project plans. This helps us provide our clients with accurate timing and helps us internally with timing as well.
Pros
- One strength is the Legacy Capacity Planning tool. I am actually upset this is being removed, because it has been a tool I use every single day.
- Being able to set predecessors is extremely helpful to plan out a whole project.
- Timelines - creating timelines from workfront with accurate dates is a very easy process.
Cons
- One very small but irritating thing about Workfront is that when a project has more than 100 tasks, you have to open the button at the bottom to load all tasks. I wish there was a way to default the setting to show all tasks.
- The speed of workfront could be improved. Sometimes, it just stops loading altogether and I have to wait an hour to try again to update my project.
- I believe the scheduling tool is not very helpful and there would be much better ways we could use a tool for scheduling things.
- I believe workfront has definitely helped us with capacity planning which is a major feature for working in a large organization with a lot of projects
- It has helped very much with managing productivity with the hours featured and being able to track time for every single task/
- For efficiency, when workfront is loading very slow or not functioning at all, it is difficult to have to put down what I was doing and come back to it after Workfront has finished loading.
The only other project management software I have used is Traffic Live. Traffic Live was the worst project management software I have ever seen. I do not have too many other project management softwares to compare Workfront to, but it is definitely something I believe is a great tool for an organization like mine, a marketing agency, to use.
The internal collaboration works very well. The ability to have all teammembers on one task and have communication about something on a specific workfront thread is really great that the thread never gets lost. I feel that there could be a better way to use it for external collaboration with our clients. For example, when we mark a task completed that an issue is tied to, and want to reopen it - the issue remains closed. We need access to reopen issues too.
The only services I have used were attending some training sessions. The initial training sessions with the introductions to workfront are very helpful. We have also used some of the hours that we have at our organization to meet with workfront employees and get training on specific things that we have questions on. This was very helpful because it was just us asking our questions and getting responses, rather than sitting through an entire training when we might already know the majority of it.
