Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are currently using ZIx throughout our organization to encrypt outbound electronic mail. It has given us the ability to trust that we are protecting PHI and PPI in all of our electronic correspondence.

Pros and Cons

Allows each email identified with PHI/PPI to be quarantined until it is approved for distribution
Generates notifications each time an encrypted email is distributed
Picks up key words in subject line or body of email and automatically encrypts them

Would like to see the ability to view encrypted emails in a thread without each email generating an encryption notification for the receiver

Return on Investment

Definitely peace of mind knowing that sensitive information is encrypted before distribution
Automatic encryption reduces the reliance on staff to know what needs to be encrypted before distribution

Alternatives Considered

Ease of implementation and price.

Likelihood to Recommend

If your correspondence includes PHI, this is a must or if you have staff who are unsure of what needs encryption before distribution.

Usability

It is very user-friendly and takes almost no time to implement. The keyword feature also allows for minimal training for staff.
