Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Zix is used by about half the staff to securely send HIPAA complaint emails. There is an ability for the whole organization to use Zix but most of the staff doesn't know how to go ahead to send out a secure email. In a world where being HIPAA compliant is very important - using Zix addresses any sort of PHI concerns.

Easy to talk with and a great demo.

There were aspects of the roll out process that weren't enclosed so implementation could have been easier if we had known in advance about some settings.
The process of implementation takes a couple of weeks.

Alternatives Considered

There are several companies out there but Zix had a great team. They gave our practice a demo several times to show just how easy and efficient Zix can be through email and text. Easy usage, especially on the go, is very important and it was an easy decision to go with the company.

Likelihood to Recommend

Each and every employee does not need to use Zix within our organization. As the encryption process is enabled by adding a single word to an email's subject line, only those who need to encrypt are given the word. This way we can avoid any overages from user over usage. Additionally, Zix is perfect if you need to be HIPAA compliant.

I would not change a thing about the selection process. There were actually several different companies and options to look at. Microsoft's Office was actually the biggest contender as it was very easy to implement, integrates easily with our current computer system (our office computers are all Windows based) by using Microsoft Outlook, and also gives us an ability to use other Office products. Office allows you to pay a cost per user for the e-mail and also pay per user for encryption. Ultimately Zix's presentation was the big selling point. Their staff and customer service was second to none which is a big consideration. When you have those who know what they are talking about plus are quickly and easily available by e-mail or phone when there are questions, you feel much better about backing that product. In the case I don't think it would be worth changing anything that was already done.

Usability

The rating is achieved because once Zix is implemented it is actually quite easy to use. As it is able to keep data secure there are no worries about patient PHI getting out into the open. As you can use Zix with just one word in the subject line it makes usage very simple.
