Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Zoom to replace legacy Polycom equipment in our video classrooms. Zoom allows us to expand our video conferencing coverage due to the ease and low cost. We were not able to keep up with the Polycom licensing fees.

Pros and Cons

It's easy to deploy.
Works every time.
Our users enjoy using it.
It's easy to get started, but powerful on the back-end.

I would like some far-end control options.

Return on Investment

Due to the low cost, we are able to expand our video conferencing abilities, not retire them.
Flexibility allows us to connect with others that would have been difficult before.

Alternatives Considered

We have retired all of these solutions and are only deploying Zoom.

Likelihood to Recommend

We use Zoom to connect with other schools to enrich our learning. The Distance Learning Consortium in Oregon has most of the schools connected in a way that we didn’t have before. I feel our users still think of Zoom in terms of our old legacy video systems. That isn’t a problem with Zoom. We just need to get our user base up to speed better. We plan to implement the domain awareness when we return, and plan to apply strategies we’ve picked up at Zoomtopia.
