Overall Satisfaction with Zoom Rooms
We have used Zoom Workplace in our synagogue since the beginning of the pandemic (March 2020). We initially used it to enable our religious school to move to online programming as well as for our lay leaders and staff to meet. We also used it for our worship services, and as the basis for our service streaming. In 2021, we added Zoom Room capabilities to allow for hybrid meetings and services. In 2022, we migrated our outdated telephony system to Zoom Phone.
We have found that while many things have returned to 100% in person, there continues to be a desire and demand for online and hybrid meetings and we have found the Zoom Workplace offerings continue to meet our needs.

Pros
- Zoom Phone is a robust VOIP system
- Zoom Workplace enables online meeting capabilities
- Zoom Rooms facilitate hybrid meetings
Cons
- We are generally pleased with the functionality
- the recent updates (especially replacing "security" with "host tools") is counterintuitive
- we don't need cutesy animated reactions
- more robust phone system management than we previously had
- ability to support both online & hybrid meeting models
- good security for public meetings
There was some pressure to use Google Meet as it is included in our Google Workspace account. We found the meeting quality to be, in our opinion, subpar and Google Meet did not have the VOIP phone plan that Zoom Workplace has.
Microsoft Teams would have involved another technology stack that was unfamiliar to many users so we did not seriously consider it. Again, it also didn't have the Phone integration.
