Considered Both Products
Acronis Cyber Protect
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
We decided to go with it because the licenses were inexpensive, but still offered a lot of options. In addition, the license term was also very long, which means we have stable costs for the next 5 years.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis had the best price-to-performance ratio for our environment of a couple of bare metal servers and a vSphere environment of 10 VMs. The web console for Acronis was the most user-friendly and not difficult to set up and understand. Veeam is top in its class, but it was …
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis Cyber Protect is more diverse and provides a wider range stack of products and services capturing a large chunk of business needs from backup to security and management. This single pane of glass structure of Acronis Cyber Protect makes vendor management and customer …
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
The integrated cybersecurity feature stands out. The competition does not provide it. Also, there are other services that users can simply turn on from the portal. The EDR solution is really good, and so is the email security. MDR solution also looks promising. Overall, it is …
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Veeam is a strong product and is now an option for my organization to acquire. Veeam has been around for many years and is very competitive when it comes to Backup solutions
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis Cyber Protect has been support but when it comes to restoring on prem files folders or servers Datto is quicker.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
The above other tools only focused on the data backup and recovery feature, while our Org and customers required and modern integrated solution, which can provide and cost-effective and easy-to-manage solution from one vendor.
As many small companies don't have it team ora …
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis Cyber Protect is usually the best choice for SMBs: it offers the widest range of functionalities for less €. On top of that, the principle of the console which gives access to all products is a nice differentiator, and the killer feature is the "DR" button!
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
The solution must be effective and information losses have occurred.

La solución debe ofrecer efectividad y se han presentado perdidas de Informacion.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Cyber Protect has more comprehensive list of features and its better for business critical systems
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis integrates well into our environment.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Veeam is gold, but it can't back up the VMs using snapshots on Scale hypervisor. In my opinion, Acronis Cyber Protect can't do anything right that Veeam can do with ease.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis is more suited to business backups of servers than Backblaze with does cater to servers.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
We've looked at SolarWinds, Veritas, etc. but none of them had the right combination of features, price and ease of use when compared against Acronis and its ease of implementation, setup and recovery options. We didn't like the wait time for recovery with some of the others …
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis Cyber Backup is a fantastic product that provides service and quality of product that is a step above the competition. The software is incredibly reliable. It’s easy to use and just works as it is intended. Backups complete fast, compression rates are incredibly high, …
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Both Acronis Backup and Macrium Reflect provide basic backup services. I feel like Macrium is aimed more towards personal use. Acronis's cloud options were a key difference for us.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
I began to compare Symantec against Acronis, because Symantec was the only software for backups and restoring that I knew. But Acronis, besides it being a little more expensive, has the best functionality and saves more time between restoring and backups for me.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
You will be hard-pressed to find this feature set at a lower price point.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Those products are all very similar. They all have pros and cons, but at the end of the day, they are all very much the same. You pick the one that you like the most, you definitely have to try many. For us, we use it for end user computers, and use something else for VMs, and …
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Since moving to imaging with Acronis, I have not used any other products as the main solution.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Much better interface and data recovery. Tech support is also much better.

Macrium Reflect
Chose Macrium Reflect
I am with Macrium Reflect for many years and even don’t remember what I prior to this program.
Chose Macrium Reflect
Previously, I used Acronis as my company purchased licensing for years. It's great, but I found Macrium Reflect more straightforward, and the free version has been perfect for personal use.
Chose Macrium Reflect
Veeam offers Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, a product we also install and use. It compares favorably with Macrium Reflect; however, for small firms and individual wanting an added cloud backup of their full hard drive, Macrium wins out in requiring less cloud storage space …
Chose Macrium Reflect
We used IBM and Freesync, but all other software had file differences. Architecture kind of backups take a long time for our 10tb storage. We compared times and it's x5 faster because Macrium is a block-based backup system instead of file comparison, and won't affect …

If you don't have to manage your client's email and their email archiver Acronis works very well. If you're looking for just a backup service for what's on a particular computer then Acronis is perfect. It is easy to use, so newcomers are not overwhelmed with features. It does not include as robust features as Barracuda and Cloudberry, but it does work well as just a backup.

Macrium Reflect creates synthetic full images for fast recovery in case of disaster. It also works pretty well on creating SQL server database backups. It can send a report of taken backups and failures to get users' attention if backups are being taken. It has a good management interface called Macrium Site Manager that connects to installed agents on different servers and has 1 site management configuration for all site servers.

Pros
  • Image based backups. After the initial backup, the backups happen quite quickly. This allows for multiple backups per day.
  • We have different classes of data which requires different retention policies. Acronis makes that easy to manage.
  • Restoration can be done directly to hardware or to a VM. This makes it easy to migrate a physical server to a VM.

  • Image drives/disks/volumes.
  • Provide incremental backups through imaging.
  • Provide mountable disk or volume images.

Cons
  • Backing up Sharepoint automatically backs up all users with access to Sharepoint even if the user is not needed to be backed up
  • Complex licensing structure
  • Needing to manually download workloads to move backups
  • Dormant users still backed up and incurring charges

Acronis Cyber Protect has been reliable for our core use case — host-level VM backup for our Hyper-V environment. The Virtual Host licensing model has worked well for us, letting us cover all VMs on a host under a single license rather than managing per-VM costs, and it gave us the flexibility to migrate the license when we shifted workloads to a different host. Application-consistent backups via VSS integration have also given us confidence in our recovery capability for workloads like SQL Server.

Usability
The web layout is very easy to understand. There are many points, all easy to understand; there are many settings, clearly described; and each point is accompanied by a description. In addition, the Protect Cloud is clearly distinguished from the management portal, preventing confusion.

Support Rating
I only got one issue resolved for more than 20 cases open. The escalation is ineffective. Most of the time, I have the feeling that I know the solution better than the support technician. Overall, case management is time-consuming, as our resolution rate is really low

We have not been opening tickets for support from Macrium at the moment, only for licencing issues, but good attention and fast response by the support team. They respond pretty fast to our emails and fixed our issues giving us a good explanation of our case without any complications. Due to the good functionality of the software we have not opened a ticket for support in years.

Implementation Rating
I don't have any real key 'insights' per say except that it wasn't difficult at all, and do not be afraid to dabble in its tools and settings. It is quite intuitive with built in common sense. I cannot say enough good things about our companies experience when using this backup software.

The integrated cybersecurity feature stands out. The competition does not provide it. Also, there are other services that users can simply turn on from the portal. Veeam offers Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, a product we also install and use. It compares favorably with Macrium Reflect; however, for small firms and individual wanting an added cloud backup of their full hard drive, Macrium wins out in requiring less cloud storage space by a significant margin. ShadowProtect is a rock solid competitor with a higher price and no free version. It is highly dependable, but more complicated to install and set up. The number of technical issues and quality of technical support have ruled out Acronis products. MSP360 Backup has impressive technology, but we encountered issues with restore times and full drive image restores.

Scalability
The ability to back up multiple servers from one source is a great tool to have for businesses that have equipment in different locations on the same network with a variety of software data to back up such as SQL, Exchange or a Files Server. You can decide to purchase individual server licenses as well if you would like to keep the process separate or have multiple sites where your data is housed.
