ApplicantPro

ApplicantPro is excellent for small and mid-sized companies that need an easy and cost-efficient way of getting their jobs posted and getting lots of applicants. It does interface with some HRIS platforms, but for most cases it may not interface with all HRIS platforms.

WinSearch

WinSearch works for a small recruiting company with low amounts of emails. Companies, where recruiters rely on heavy email, should avoid this due to delays and slow tech support fixes. Security and data breaches have occurred, and would negatively impact any company.

Pros

  • Allows us to involve a hiring manager or hiring committee in the selection and review process via their own logins. Easy to manage access to only the right job postings.
  • Custom (knock out) questions for each job posting. This is nice because we can get very specific as to what information we want out of an applicant. This helps in narrowing down to the final candidates.
  • Ability for teams to each rate a candidate (via 5 stars). It then takes an average which helps in selecting candidates for interviews.

  • WinSearch CRM database is user-friendly

Cons

  • There are not a lot of negatives. Great ATS solution with great customer support.
  • They do have a job email notification feature for potential candidates but it only sends it out periodically. It would be nice to have more control of when the emails go out.
  • The design is improving but takes some getting used to.

  • Winsearch provides email which is easily overwhelmed resulting in hangups and painfully slow searches. This is fixable with workarounds, but still not worth the wait if you seek a reliable software.
  • Winsearch is susceptible to hacks, and security issues. The system can go down for as long as a week as a result of a hack. The resulting interruption of business makes this software package not a good buy.

Alternatives Considered

We are just implementing UltiPro. It has an ATS module and does a lot of things equally well and some better. Applicant Pro is probably half the cost. Also, UltiPro requires an account with eQuest to post to state job boards and local job boards, this is an added cost. It is also an added cost with AP but is very affordable. I didn't use onboarding with applicant pro because I believe it was an integration with another vendor. UltiPro is attractive because it is all one system so the applicant information flows into onboarding which flows into employee management and payroll.

JobDiva has more functionality, and costs a bit more. I have done a demo of JobDiva, but haven't been an active user.

  • ApplicantPro has given us a cost-efficient way of getting our jobs out to several free job sites and does a great job of integrating with Indeed.
  • We typically get a great flow of candidates when we post with ApplicantPro.

  • WinSearch database CRM is reliable and works well. Their email system negatively impacts my business. Security breaches and hacks could last 1 week and are very harmful to customers.
