Collibra works well in our environment because we can delegate roles and administration to departments or it can be used in a centralized environment. The ability to customize attributes and assets as well and integrate using the rest api is very important to us.

SAP provides great support for Master Data Governance (MDG). They work with us when we are faced with issues in standard solutions. SAP has a great set of Fiori tools that can be used for a better user experience. The issue with SAP is their web dynpro UI screens and they need to provide better support for performance issues that customers face.

Ataccama ONE is a designated tool for Data quality monitoring. Supports end to end. Quite easy to deploy. Alteryx is more about coding or almost as complicated while Ataccama ONE is a bit easier to use. Different interfaces. Many views automatically available for data sets in Ataccama ONE. Output is vizualized in the tool. While more data transformation is required in Alteryx.

Collibra offers more features [than alternatives] and is easy for business users to use. We did a proof of concept with Collibra using the Cloud service that allowed us to kick the tires and get a comfort level before we made the investment. At the time of our purchase the market was very immature and is continuing to evolve.

• ROI is hard to measure because there are so many soft benefits that come from the tool. We do have a variety of metrics that we track using Collibra to better gauge the maturity of data governance.

• MDG is definitely an investment that takes a few years to recuperate. (If you are looking at pure, direct financial benefits.)
• However, if you look at all the productivity gains in the business due to not having to stop the business constantly because of data issues, the payback period would be substantially shorter.
• In particular, we were able to reduce master data maintenance staffing levels while increasing quality and decreasing workload for business requesters and approvers.
• Not having to worry about data integrity issues has shortened the time to realize benefits for several of our major process change related projects and it has also decreased the risk of these projects running into significant delays (often at the last minute) due to master data being misjudged during the process resdesign.
