Dynamo Software is a purpose-built investment management platform that can support the entire private market investment lifecycle. It offers modules for CRM, deal management, investor relations, investor portal, portfolio monitoring, fund accounting, research management, portfolio management, and ESG reporting.
Cap IQ is well suited for analyzing security pricing and valuation, tracking stock performance over time, looking up comparable transactions, and analyzing valuations on an industry basis. The service is also well suited for charting and data analysis purposes.
Your customer service is the best part about Covercy. I love having a contact person that is responsive and helpful. Even if Covercy doesn't have a feature that we would like or need, we are always given workarounds or suggestions on alternative solutions. Our suggestions for portal improvements are always considered and being worked on by the development team. Covercy is working on improving the customer and investor experience
I think to organise and view information Dynamo has shown it's capability. However, it's still not a workflow or project management tool. It's a great hub for inhaling and presenting information of magnitude, and it does so well. But there are limitations to how Dynamo can be used to allow interpersonal and teamed type collabs to happen. We know it's not an Asana and not built for that, so it's not a negative feedback, just not the appropriate platform if full fledged proj management and logistics, comms need to be housed somewhere along with the data, It's not within Dynamo for now.
$3 Million in FDIC Insurance Account protection is unsurpassed and highly attractive to our project managers and investors.
The Onboarding of over 100 investors was simple and efficient using a spreadsheet import.
The Technical Staff was very helpful and supportive during our startup phase and handled project startup delays beautifully.
Covercy was able to handle member payouts that involved compilcated and varied bonus structures and 15 different income generating assets with varied investor contributors and we had great support in figuring out how to handle the profit distributions.
The Covercy Account Managers were highly professional and a pleasure to work with.
Some functionality is clunky: Mailing Campaigns, Passthrough Integration, Dynamo Accounting Complex Transactions. At times it seems functionality is rolled out too soon.
Onboarding of new clients for us seems a bit haphazard. We just added a new tenant with CRM, Dynamo Accounting and the Investor Portal and we weren't exactly sure what the state of the new tenant should be based on what was copied over from a prior tenant or how much Dynamo Software time or support we would have to customize the new tenant.
At times it seems Dynamo Software's terminology with relationships either isn't intuitive or is repetitive creating additional time/confusion when modifying workspaces, portal set-up, etc.
I find it easy to use and very intuitive once you get into the weeds. We also prepared an entire policies and procedures for utilizing it efficiently and not making many human errors. This guide has helped our employees understand how to use it. In addition, the help guides on the Dynamo website are really useful
Our experience has been excellent so far. The only hiccup that we have had happen was when we were testing our signed document and signature process and the document wasn't initially sending. We figured out why it wasn't sending and were able to correct that issue in a very timely manner.
We had Capital IQ in addition to Bloomberg. It was much easier for a new person to use Capital IQ than Bloomberg. The ease of use was a huge selling point for us. Yahoo finance on the other hand is free, but you cannot gather all the data you may need in one location like you can in Capital IQ.
I believe that Covercy is the only solution that is currently allowing Real Estate firms to distribute funds to their investors directly through the platform. Also, both other solutions are pretty expensive compared to the reasonable pricing that Covercy has in place (function of a number of properties rather than AuM or other methods).
Main arguments were: pricing as well as the usability. Setting up Dynamo is not difficult. Especially if you don't know what you really want. Dynamo offers out of the box views. Adjusting these is simple. Other competitiors like eFront are very customisable but need to be set up from scratch. Dynamo offered some type of canvas.
The ROI I can provide is for time management. It saves us at least 2 days' worth of work each quarter on capital distributions alone, and at least 30 minutes on each report distribution. Not to mention the amount of time it saves us on fielding client questions regarding their capital because they can just log in and see everything on their portal.
