Communique Conferencing vs. Convio Luminate (discontinued)

Communique Conferencing would be best suited for mid- to large-sized organizations that require reliability, scalability, and high data security. They can definitely support large-scale events that are customized to reflect the event's brand and objectives. You can go the self-service route or engage their project team as much as you need.

Communique Conferencing is less suited for small, basic Zoom style events.

It does great with donor cultivation processes and the workflow feature is top-notch for automating processes. Where it does a less than stellar job is getting it to work more specifically for your organization. Often times building that kind of special feature costs a significant time and money investment and it is something that is hard to transfer when it's time to move to a new database.

• Delivering a unique and elevated experience by using a platform with a unique look and feel.
• The platform capsulizes everything and makes information easily accessible.
• It's the team support that keeps us coming back. We have a dream team which is why our events go off so well without a hitch.

• Luminate takes some of the legwork out of setting up NSPS for nonprofit use of salesforce.

Usability is critical with virtual events both for our team to set up and administer as well as for our attendees. Communique Conferencing is easy for our team to administer. We survey our attendees during and after virtual events. The feedback regarding usability is very positive.

The Communique project team is

• Knowledgeable
• Responsive
• Willing to go above and beyond to make our events successful

Support for the product is horrible; often support will have you bouncing between Blackbaud support and Salesforce support and it's very rare either are able to find simple solutions. Most of the time the solutions almost always cost money and hiring consultants which, for a smaller organization, means not being able to achieve proper solutions.

ON24 - A better platform, better support, much better pricing

Patchable - They laid off a lot of staff this past year. This had a tremendous negative impact on the product quality and support.

Of the databases I have used, Luminate CRM is my least favorite. However, it is powerful and large enough to function adequately for a large nonprofit; I couldn't say the same for some of Blackbaud's smaller products. We definitely need the full Luminate Suite (Luminate Online, Team Raiser, etc.,) to make it work, though - and we're constantly disappointed by the clumsiness of the way all the pieces interact.

• We always get positive feedback regarding the platform on our attendee surveys.
• Their incredible support team saves us time and money. For example, there was a problem with a live stream at our last event. Although the problem was not on Communique's end, their experienced tech support team were able to provide insight that helped the on-site production company quickly isolate and resolve the issue.

• Uncertain; we have not collected data on this. Our Luminate package is quite expensive, though.
