Dashlane
It is well suited in org where password protection is mandatory. Most companies need it hence as the service you're providing needs to have a secure vault and this is where dashlane comes in picture. Also great as a authenticator app. Even has VPN for those that need. It is less suited for personal projects.

It is well suited for any business as they would have password / confidential data which needs to be stored. Hence this tool provides all those features which is required. The product becomes less appropirate to SMB segments as the per device licensing becomes very difficult as there are various applications available as a free ware. Hence the licensing model need to be re-thought

Pros
Dashlane
  • Their Secure Notes are an easy and great way to save and protect important data and notes not specifically password-related.
  • I really like their Payments feature. I've used that at my desk and when traveling to fill-in payment information on the fly.
  • I've recently begun using Dashlane with PassKeys and found the process to be simple and intuitive to use.

  • Generating strong, random passwords: Password Genie has a built-in password generator that creates strong and unique passwords for each account. This eliminates the need for employees to come up with their own passwords and reduces the risk of them using easily guessable or weak passwords.
  • Storing login information securely: Password Genie stores all login information in a secure location that is protected by a master password. This ensures that only authorized users can access the information and that it is protected against potential breaches.
  • Syncing across multiple devices: Password Genie allows employees to access their login information from multiple devices, including smartphones, laptops, and tablets. This means that they can easily access the information they need, regardless of where they are working.
  • Automatic login: Password Genie can automatically fill in login information on websites and apps, saving time and reducing the risk of typos.

Cons
Dashlane
  • Some of our language and explanations could be simpler. Most users are not security professionals, they just want to get into applications and do their jobs.
  • Guidelines for diagnosing and fixing problems can always be clearer and better targeted toward laypeople.
  • Sometimes we need to change a user's email address (like if they change their name). Changing email addresses is very hard if not impossible. It appears to be impossible once it's set in the account.

Usability
Dashlane
We previously used LastPass, which was also an excellent alternative for Dashlane. Dashlane seems to have more security features compare to LastPass. We can send pass to any user in our organization easily also we can share details with our clients. we can securely manage all the pass in our vault and timely change it when it's time comes.

We've had no issues with Dashlane. I can't speak to their customer service because I have not personally needed to contact them. I guess that speaks about their product if we've not had any issues to reach out about. Great for supporting data/information on multiple platforms that are shared among team members.

Alternatives Considered
Dashlane
Dashlane loses against 1Password in almost every way. The only aspect that is better for Dashlane is the ability to share with your organization as it will pre-populate a list of users.
I didn't select Dashlane, it was selected for me. If it was up to me, I would choose 1Password over Dashlane all the time.

  • The product it self cannot be deemed very expensive
  • It does what it is buit for, hence I am doubtful that there could be a proper means to calculate the ROI of the product
  • This tool is defenetly a must for admins as when they tend to leave the organization this tool can be really helpful in knowledge transfer sessions.
