DISCO Ediscovery vs. Ideagen Risk Management

It's user-friendly and very intuitive. It has many capabilities that are out of the box, and it does not need to do any workaround. Also, there are many ways to do the same thing which is great when we are in a rush and how a user learns. Attorneys are loving the Case Builder function. I am happy that we can streamline processes and get to do more of what we love to do versus being bogged down by tedious steps.

Pentana is great for monitoring PIs and risks. We find it less helpful for monitoring projects (with the Actions module); it isn't quite flexible enough for our needs, though the support team have been very helpful in adding custom fields for us.

• Review Stages are used by our Experts with direct access, which eliminates the need to create folders on our servers, download to flash drives, or having to upload documents and create links in the cloud

• Pentana is excellent for monitoring, recording and reporting on PIs. Very easy to use the PI module.
• Pentana is excellent for monitoring risks at various levels (service, strategic etc.). Risks are displayed very clearly in a tree structure and the module is relatively easy to use.

• Allow bates labeling to be completed at ingest
• Providing a guide for load file ingest and remediation of load file errors
• Availability of predictive tagging in matters with smaller production than is currently necessary
• Improve ability to review and summarize medical records
• Ability at ingest to break up a single large document into individual documents for review, whether through a manual or AI-driven process

• Pentana could improve the free Documents module that comes with Pentana Risk. At the moment documents have to be linked to an action in order to display query results (such as how many documents are due for review) - this can be confusing for users who don't understand why there is an action linked. There is also no easy way for users to see the documents that are assigned to them.
• We would like to use the Actions module fully in order to monitor our corporate projects, but it a bit confusing for users and not very flexible when a project doesn't mirror Pentana's way of monitoring actions.

There were some customer service issues in closing a project, but generally the service has been helpful to our needs.

I've been able to go from never using this type of software before, to confidently using it on an everyday basis, and the learning curve was not steep at all.

Some modules are more user-friendly than others. It's sometimes not obvious where to click to update the fields (or even that field titles can be clicked on). We have written 'Howdys' to help users. There can also seem to be a lot of steps/clicks to updating risks and actions. The Reports module on Pentana classic is certainly not user-friendly, particularly the Report Layout and Charts modules - we were told these would be integrated into the web version but this hasn't happened yet.

I've never had a problem with the support team getting back to me re my questions or assisting me in a project.

The support team are excellent and always answer queries promptly. They are very helpful.

DISCO provides good resources in addition to the walkthroughs.

I have used proprietary in-house software at a litigation management firm. The in-house software allowed for documents to be processed and coded in order for the end-user to run a report that met the end-users parameters. DISCO allows for documents to be ingested, and for those ingested documents to be divided into review stages. The reports that DISCO allows the end-user to run are far superior to end-user reports of other in-house systems

We selected Pentana because our neighbouring authorities are users and had spoken highly of the product and given us demonstrations; some of our staff were also familiar with Pentana when it was called Covalent. It seemed to be the best product on the market for monitoring risks, PIs and projects.

• DISCO has saved our clients tons of money in hosting fees, as well as hourly fees in time spent reviewing documents.
• With DISCO's search capabilities, a review that could take weeks or months by many can be performed in days or weeks by fewer personnel.
• With DISCO, actions that previously had to be contracted out to a vendor can now be handled in-house at a much cheaper cost.

• Pentana Risk has allowed my team to focus on other areas of work whereas before we would be manually chasing for updates on PIs and risk. Pentana Risk does the chasing for us!
• We are able to produce reports for audit purposes very easily, rather than sending spreadsheets which is what we used to do.
• New managers can easily inherit risks, projects and PIs and see all of this on a custom portal, saving them time when they start.
