Microsoft Sentinel (formerly Azure Sentinel) is designed as a birds-eye view across the enterprise. It is presented as a security information and event management (SIEM) solution for proactive threat detection, investigation, and response.
For our use case we have been using it extensively for centralizing the automated backup creation per scheduled time intervals for critical datastores and servers. Designed a backup plan DR plan accordingly and have everything integrated. To have better sleep for operational overhead in the event of ransomware attack or cloud systems going down in one region, this automation tremendously helps us to get a new env running in few minutes with less manpower.
Sentinel is the best "cloud-native" in the market yet, so if the organization has a cloud presence (which almost everyone has) then Sentinel is the right choice for having a single pane of glass for all your security monitoring needs. Sentinel is a very good tool for log analysis and event management purposes as well. With KQL and ASIM parsers, organizations can retrieve invaluable insights even from the most complex data. And of course, Sentinel is a great choice for automating the incident response process to a very good extent.
It takes some time to learn how to use and install it properly, and it does not connect effectively with external PaaS systems such as Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, and so on.
Microsoft can simplify the display of the logs to make them easier to study, and the user interface occasionally delays, which can also be enhanced.
This is the second company I've brought to Druva. Just today, I was tasked with recovering a file from a user that last saw it 6 months ago. I was able to restore it in under 5 minutes of getting the request. It's really that easy.
The product is easy to navigate and manage. Setup and configuration is also easy. We did not need to pay for any additional professional services. Our account team worked with use on the integration. It was not complex or difficult to learn how to setup and use. End users also have the ability to log in and manage their own files and emails
The Microsoft Azure Sentinel solution is very good and even better if you use Azure. It's easy to implement and learn how to use the tool with an intuitive and simple interface. New updates are happening to always bring new news and improve the experience and usability. The solution brings reliability as it is from a very reliable manufacturer.
Like any service, there are scheduled maintenance periods and unscheduled outages, however outages have been very limited and fortunately have not had any impact on our environment.
Page response in the admin center is acceptable- rarely are we waiting for data to load. Backup speeds seem fine, and restore speeds are OK considering it's likely pulling data from cold storage. It often takes 30-60 seconds for the restore to begin transferring files, but speeds are acceptable thereafter
We had an issue in my first year that took a long time to fix. The support guy was awesome, took screen shots, filled me in, was professional, but it just took so long. I do think that was an anomaly, but it certainly sticks out nonetheless. Beyond that, we've had pretty good support "relationships" with the reps. They're usually pretty prompt at getting back and quite knowledgeable. Just make sure you have your proxies updated, because that's always step 1!
Implementation from cloud ranger to Druva Data Resiliency Cloud platform was a seamless integration experience to upgrade the policies and license for continual backup/recovery support. This may be one of the best "set it and forget it" apps for backup solutions, that also allow notifications for failures etc...

The key advantage of using Sentinel lies in Microsoft already being a renowned name in cloud services. Hence, the Collection of data at the cloud scale across all users, devices, applications, and infrastructure, both on-premises and especially in the MS Cloud, is super easy. Additionally, leveraging Threat Intel from Microsoft itself gives a sense of security, given their years of experience in the collection of intel. The AI and Machine learning features provided by MS is one of the finest.
We started very small with this product, only backing up key officers' laptops. After our initial experience, we found it very easy to scale up the product to all company laptops and expand into file servers, VMWare servers, and other production-level data, like Office 365 and Teams. We found the product very easy to scale while remaining intuitive and efficient to use.
Using Druva has simplified greatly the backup process. Once fully configured to your business needs, Druva provides a fast amount of backups.
Druva has saved a lot of time for the IT team. Usually time is wasted by staff members searching for a missing email. Now, they reach out to us or use their own Druva account to locate a missing email quickly and easily.
Microsoft Sentinel is a good investment, especially when sided with other solutions such as Microsoft 365 Defender, as it provides 360° protection on every level of the infrastructure.
When deployed on infrastructures that have never had an SIEM, Microsoft Sentinel helps to assess vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.
As with any other SIEM, Microsoft Sentinel basically eliminates the need to put effort into every single platform (like EDR, NDR, XDR) and converge that effort on a single product that correlates and orchestrates the rest.
