IFTTT vs. QuickBooks Commerce

Because of the multitude of options with IFTTT, it is hard to describe the best use scenarios, but I will share how I use the platform at this time. I use IFTTT to check Craigslist for certain IT equipment postings and email me if that occurs, turning items on and off with geo-fencing and WiFi network presence, and linking my calendar to my to-do list

Using TradeGecko requires to the company to make compromises. Which compromises depends on the business, what they are using for other 3rd party applications and what they sell. You need to be very good with excel since you are able to upload and modify most files, which gives you major control over your data. They however need to modify the way in which new inventory items get loaded, as it is quite awkward if you use variants. 'Reports' as has been described prior has improved dramatically and most if not all can be downloaded in CSV/Excel format. This allows you to build your own reports with the data from the system. If your business is very complex in nature, TradeGecko probably isn't the system for you. If you are doing thousands of transactions a day, again this is not the system. However, if you are a small to smaller mid-sized business, the system, its cost and the 3rd party applications make it worth a first second and third look.

• IFTTT manages a number of social media accounts quite well. Being able to login to one platform with access to all your accounts is great.
• IFTTT is easy to set up. IFTTT has a number of crowd sourced and created formulas that you can use, or if you're looking for something specific you can create your own. This allows for an endless number of combinations and ways to engage with the program.
• IFTTT doesn't require constant upkeep. Once you have things setup you can forget about it and it just works.

• Interface with WooCommerce.
• Interface with Xero.
• Maintain Perpetual Inventory (less than 0.001% difference in value of inventory in TG and Xero).
• Works with ShipStation extremely well.
• Works with major EDI vendors (with reservations).

• The website section "Activity" tends to get very crowded over time. It would benefit from some search and filter functionalities.
• Some services lack ingredients. "Ingredients" are attributes passed from one service to another to enhance IFTTT's power. However, some services (like Evernote's notes, for example) currently have too few ingredients available.
• It is not possible to link more than two services. It would be great, for example, to have an option to take a mail message and post in multiple social networks and blogs with the same applet.

• - Couldn't integrate with existing QBO account. Had to set up a new QBO account and transfer all data, create lots of journal entries - was very time-consuming and labor-intensive. Caused some financial discrepancies to resolve.
• - Have to process returns on Amazon and Shopify orders manually
• - Tax-inclusive is not allowed - European sales are tax inclusive - can't import order with VAT included. Looks like the software is suitable for US only. Have to create such orders manually in Commerce and then manual journal entries in QBO
• - Supports accrual accounting method only. In cash - it's a mess
• - Support - not knowledgeable enough - I could only call for support (now they have chat) and they always had to get with the back-end and every call was not less than 1 hour. At the end I would get a link for the training materials
• - Inventory not synching timely sometimes - I have a screenshot proving that inventory on our Amazon account was 0 but Commerce still had quantities, I had to manually press synch
• - Shipping line from Shopify orders is not coded to Shipping income account but goes together with Sales of product income account
• - When partial of the PO is received, not able to create a bill for the partial. There're only 2 settings: either bill created at the time of PO creation (for the whole PO amount - which increases your AP right away) or at the time the whole PO received. It works only when PO is shipped as a whole.

There is no better alternative and although Integromat is new and the GUI is slick, they make you pay per push and IFTTT does not. The rest of the competition make you pay per integration or are just not as seamless in usage or have the depth of catalogue. If you use Zapier for instance, it is because they have an integration you have to use, not because Zapier does a better job.

For the most part, IFTTT is great but it does have its limitations. You may only do one thing at a time. If you want branching logic it can be cumbersome and clunky. This it where something like Microsoft Flow does better. For simplicity, nothing can beat IFTTT for how easy it is to set up and use right out of the box

I have had a few issues with apps over the years. Compared to other services, ITFFF is the best choice but no service is perfect unless you build it yourself for yourself. ITFFF needs more tutorials on how to create a custom platform, but overall I will recommend it as an easy to use, time-saving service.

Support team just sends links to blog posts that are often out of date.

I haven't used Zapier extensively, but it seems that IFTTT is much simpler to set up. However, Zapier appears to be a much deeper integration where you can sync a variety of fields of data and customize the sync more than you can with IFTTT. Zapier may be more valuable for someone with a complex need and IFTTT is built for simple solutions for more basic apps.

Each of the applications has a specific place. We select and implement the best solutions for our clients based on their budget and requirements. This is often determined by integration requirements. We like to say that every application with do a different 95% of what you need it to. There will always be a different 5% to forgo between applications.

• We have not had to purchase a subscription to a social media automation tool.
• We have saved time sharing information between systems.
• We have been able to reach out to our clients faster because notifications are coming to our attention in more ways than just our inbox.

• No real ROI - we're stilling pulling reports from multiple platforms.
