Logi Report vs. Sigma Computing

JReport is well suited to enterprise-wide deployment such as we deliver in our data warehouse solution JOHO OneSource(TM). It provides for a seamless end-user experience to enterprise-wide corporate data, maintain user-level security regardless of location or device used. Reporting elements are always "business-friendly", reducing confusion for the less sophisticated information consumer. Since JReport is highly scalable, it is hard to imagine a deployment where it would not be well suited. The only case I can think of is possibly one where there are limited or no reporting staff onsite to create report elements.

Sigma is most useful in an environment where the busines user is data savvy. Data savvy is not only knowledge of the data but also has basic spreadsheet skills like knowing how to connect data with lookups. These environments often mean that they can pick up the skills needed to build their own visuals. So Sigma is possibly the only tool for a small company with limited data resources where the business teams needs to pick up some of the data load. Sigma is also great for a big company where there is more demand for data discovery than the IT team has capacity.

• Initially, the product lacked some features but their support team reacted quickly to meet our needs.
• The JReport desktop designer looks a bit dated, however, the Web GUI looks very modern.

• The interface is busy with multiple modes to accomplish similar tasks, so not always intuitive to do some tasks
• While a more specific case of my first point, the relationship between different screen elements is particularly not obvious

It has a clean and modern interface. However, it is not completely intuitive. I think it would be better and easier to navigate with more Windows style drop down menus and/or tabls. There is a significant learning curve, but that may be due in part to the technical nature of this type of software tool.

It depends, it loads quickly for smaller dashboards but when loading larger amounts of data it takes more time to do so

Support team is helpful in answering questions and providing help with using the UI. There are knowledgeable people within the support team. There are also good online support tools. There are significant community support resources available. There is however lack of a live support. It would be useful to have live phone number or chat to use.

We have been using Logi Report for many years. We did review Microsoft PowerBI recently and are currently considering if it will meet our needs. We are still evaluating at the moment.

Sigma is like a unique combination of Excel and Tableau, in my experience. It combines both the heavy-duty data wrangling and data manipulation abilities of Tableau with the quickness and ease of use that Excel is known for having. I have relied on Excel a lot less now for ad hoc work since using Sigma, as I can just easily get what I need from Sigma rather than having to open it in Excel. We still have one minor data source that I use to download CSVS from and work into Excel as needed, but this is rare.
