SAP Fieldglass

Where SAP Fieldglass does well:
  • Speed through process automation
  • Increased visibility
    on the service delivery
  • Smart processing and operational
    efficiency
(digital contract creation, pre-defined workflows, automated PO creation and
    confirmations)
  • Better compliance
and adherence to contract terms using standardized contract/SOW templates and
    enforced rate cards Better transparency
on the process stage through process tracking Integrated process from bidding to payment
Overall Fieldglass can be used in the areas where an external workforce is involved, whether these are contingent labor resources or services. For material/goods related contracts (software, etc.) the system is in our opinion not suitable.

Altus Dynamics CRM is a fabulous tool that meets our needs. Where we identify gaps, we can quickly and easily configure the system to meet those needs. Altus Dynamics as a partner were excellent at helping us get the system set up initially to meet our needs, though the lack of function specific training meant that we had to ensure resources on our end to learn through some trial and error at times. That said, Dynamics CRM resources are bountiful on the internet through community forums and groups and questions can often be solved within minutes of searching for the item.

Pros

SAP Fieldglass

  • Organized statements of work show the payee which projects they are working on and which are approved for payment
  • Good accountability system that updates in real time and has organized channels of approval
  • Simple approval process brings up what items need to be reviewed and approved with a click of a button

  • Integrates finance with payroll. Many solutions still run these as separate functions and this was one of the deciding factors for King's when purchasing Microsoft NAV in 2005.
  • Altus has added an employee web app that seamlessly connects the outside 'users' to the information they require.
  • HR position management has taken the many details of an employee in this environment and allowed each position to be tracked individually.

Cons

SAP Fieldglass

  • The simple display and way you navigate the jobs page is not very intuitive. There could be better information displayed than what is there, and it doesn't always make sense in how you move from one page to another.
  • I really don't like the requirement of the last 5 digits of a candidate's social security number for the "Security ID." Some candidates are reluctant to give that out, when paired with their birth day (also required). I'm not sure why this couldn't be a different piece of information - last 5 of the primary phone number, for example.
  • Some of the field are not well-defined. For example. there is a Resume field, then an Attachments field. And the rate section isn't 100% clear, especially when entering overtime rates or discounted rates.

  • Building in additional training support for end users as part of an implementation or upgrade.
  • Sharing of best practices amongst like minded organizations and creating system and or reporting standardizations where possible.
  • It would be great to see a "cashless schools" module as part of the product which integrates into the financial system!

Again, Fieldglass is a strong contender but Fieldglass can be difficult at times to work with and not as supportive as I'd like. As so, I'd be willing to try Beeline or other top competitors

The easy understanding of the whole platform concept and how SAP Fieldglass help[s] manage different things with effective capabilities. The planning using SAP Fieldglass is good, and the contract management tools also are good and reliable. For the project budgeting via SAP Fieldglass ,results to the accurate calculation and the order management experience is perfect.

We came from a product that was specific to our industry. It was old, tired and did not do many of the things the Altus Dynamics solution does. The only other product that we seriously considered was Microsoft Dynamics GP, however our finance team felt that product was too light for our needs and growth

Return on Investment

SAP Fieldglass

  • Fieldglass has returned significant RoI in terms of reduced rates, reduced number of suppliers and reduced numbers of workers.
  • Fieldglass has simplified and automated the non-employee processes for managers creating more capacity for them to focus on more added value work.
  • Fieldglass has helped reduce the risk and exposure to non-compliant suppliers and spend.

  • In some cases the system has helped bring efficiencies to our world. The workflow capabilities of Dynamics CRM are extremely functional and helpful.
  • The learning curve can be challenging for some. Those that are overwhelmed by technology in general can struggle with understanding how the system works and where to find what they need.
