Cons

The new node based licensing model makes it difficult to justify the price for nodes that only utilize a few components.
Script results need to be a statistic. It would be a lot more useful if we could populate a table of results, including alpha-numeric strings, boolean, etc.
A lot of the AppInsight components cannot be disabled. You have to either use the whole template or nothing.

I love the product and the alerts are within the millisecond, which can be the difference between life and death in some cases. As a beginner user, it was difficult getting around or add new hosts to monitor. However, after reading guides an familiarizing myself with the product, I realized how powerful and extremely useful this product. The reason I don't give a 10 is the learning curve.

Usability

SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor 8.7

Based on 30 answers

SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor is quite easy to use and super versatile. It allows you to do just about anything you can through premade templates or through scripting. You can use an agent on the servers if you want to, or you can monitor through WMI or SNMP credentials. You can customize thresholds for alerting quickly, and you can configure alerts to be as complex or as simple as you want.

I think there was only a couple times I had to open a support case for SAM and one time they got multiple engineers on the phone to get a better idea what I was trying to monitor and was able to point me in the best direction to monitor that system.

Submitting a ticket to Stackify Retrace support team is very easy and the response is always within a few hours. In case of some serious problems they are able to provide assistance coming directly from one of their developers what decreases significantly the amount of time needed to figure out what is causing the issue.

Alternatives Considered

I have tried and researched many products including Cacti, Zabbix, Dynatrace, as far as I have read the best crafted product among them is SolarWinds. [Already], SolarWinds company is the most successful company that has proven itself in issues such as monitoring and logging.

APM Plus does a better job of archiving documents than DocSend and makes it easier to find the documents when you need them. DocSend seemed to be more of a marketing tool than a business tool. APM Plus is all business and consistently does what you need on a daily basis. We selected APM Plus because of the great support on setup and after implementation. They are always ready to help.

We shorten the time we fix app issues
We spend a lot less time digging through data
We can be proactive and see issues as they are trending before the completely explode
I have APM on all production servers so I can catch issues as they happen
I no longer get 2000 email on an issue but rather one full of data
