Capturing email addresses from potential clients, managing mailing lists, automating email sequences, collecting information from leads via a web form ahead of sales calls.

Pros

Tech support is brilliant, really quick and effective
Robust, easy to use, reliable compared to alternative products my colleagues use
Info on which level is right and early flag when approaching a need to level up without pressure

Really helpful feedback statistics to understand which email campaigns are getting engagement/clicks/sales. Can do this at the campaign level or look at engagement from individual clients. Easy for them to unsubscribe. Automations are very straightforward. When I get stuck, tech support makes me video walk-throughs and is really quick to respond.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ActiveCampaign to get leads from our website using downloadable content. We then nurture them using email marketing. Nurtured leads are then contacted by sales which we track using ActiveCampaign Deals pipeline. Currently, our email list is under 1,000 contacts but steadily growing. ActiveCampaign suits our needs at this stage.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ActiveCampaign for multiple scopes. We use it to send broadcasts to our lists. We use it to automate processes. We use it to collect data from our contacts. It's one of our most important assets. The crucial thing is to understand how to collect data that make sense for your specific business.

Pros

Automating Emails Sequences like "welcome emails".
Collecting every data for future segmentations.
Automating delivery of information.
Broadcasting using advanced functions like A/B tests, conditional fields.

Cons

Big automation gets clunky and slow.
Contacts data could be hugely improved (for example understanding how engaged contacts are is not so easy, there's a workaround with automation but it's not immediate).
The historical "activities" of a specific user are not so detailed and hard to navigate if you go back in time.

Likelihood to Recommend

I recommend it for every business that could automate operations with emails. If you just send "normal" emails maybe there are more suitable solutions.

ActiveCampaign is great for most of our daily operations, including marketing campaigns and keeping our contacts organized. However, occasionally, there is a small, unpredictable glitch that causes some headache. For example, there was an issue with a marketing campaign that only went to some of the desired contacts for no apparent reason, despite the necessary logic being in place. You have to learn how to predict what tends to go wrong and work around it, which once you know is fine, but it can cause a problem the first time or two it happens.

We switched from another platform a few years ago and mainly use ActiveCampaign for our email marketing. Since then, it has streamlined our efforts and we've seen a positive impact from our community. Because it's so user-friendly and easy to understand, our email marketing has improved greatly and allowed us to automate a ton of communication.

Cons

CRM is slightly confusing to understand.
Integrations can be hard to connect at times.
Every once in a while certain automation won't trigger correctly and it's hard to figure out why.

ActiveCampaign is a great platform if you're looking for user-friendly, easily customizable email marketing. They also have a really great customer service team that will help you with whatever questions or issues you may run into. I've had awesome customer service reps help me any time I need assistance and they are always quick and efficient with their solutions.

I switched to ActiveCampaign when I needed more from my emails. I loved ActiveCampaign as it allowed me to run my business efficiently and also scale and expand to other parts... I love the automations, being able to run different emails to different lists, tag, and keep my business goals clear.

I always recommend ActiveCampaign to my clients and those in my membership group, I understand it well and its intuitive enough to teach to other people. I am able to demo and walk through very easily using my account when I am teaching others. Although, I would like a demo account where I don't have to disclose my business data to those who I teach.

I am absolutely glad that I found this platform for my email campaigns. I use this to schedule my emails and to stay in constant contact with my clients and potential clients. The email campaigns are so easy to set up and get started. Before ActiveCampaign I was not getting out my information on a regular basis and now I can stay top of mind with multiple emails thru out the month without me having to do it. Set it and forget it. The analytics help me stay on top of people who do not want an email or if they click any links in the email. Fantastic platform!

For me, it is exactly what I was looking for. If you are a person that needs to send emails on a regular basis then this is the platform to use. It probably would not be a good investment if you only send a few emails a month, but you can send single emails.

We use ActiveCampaign for all our email automations, email campaigns and even as a CRM in some cases. We needed a solution that could help us build out great looking email templates for our clients and perform complex automations that help make everyone's lives so much easier. Many of our clients have under 2500 contacts which makes ActiveCampaign an extremely affordable option for them.

Pros

ActiveCampaign is great for creating simple and complex automations easily and for almost any use case you can think of.
No code Email template design. ActiveCampaign allows you to quickly create stunning email marketing templates with no code (though I think you also have the option to use code if you want to).
ActiveCampaign as CRM may not be the most powerful although when combined with their automations it may well be. But typically we use it in its most basic form and this allows our clients to manage their clients very easily with little interference or even education from us.

Cons

I use the ecommerce feature for email template design and there's been a bug where I can't change the colours of the shopping block to match a theme. Which is annoying in of itself and is actually quite critical but beyond that it would be nice if they could either fix it quickly or keep me up to date on the progress of the fix.
It could be a little bit easier to find pricing online.
Support isn't online at all times of the day, which is understandable but definitely would be a nice thing to have.

If I'm being honest, I haven't tried many of ActiveCampaign's competitors so I can't say with certainty that it is clearly the best option. However it very rarely fails to do what I need it to, and the innumerable options it gives me in terms of automations really appeals to my nerdy side.

We've looked at many email marketing providers and ActiveCampaign is robust enough to handle the integrations and automatons we need at a price that is competitively affordable.
