Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We mainly use this to determine if workers are productive or not. It has helped significantly identifying the "Houdini workers" who appear to be busy but are either playing games or doing personal tasks during work hours. The system is very easy to use.

Pros

  • Tracks whether applications or websites are business or personal related
  • Capturing screenshots of users desktops for review
  • User friendly interface, easy to teach non-tech managers

Cons

  • Pricing module, sometimes for our use case having a minimum of 5 is too many.
  • Live view, unless I have missed it, of the users screen in real time
  • Email alerts

Likelihood to Recommend

This is our go to product and has been for several years now. This has helped our organization determine which users are working and which ones are not. Several times it has identified that an employee who was suspected of doing personal items was indeed doing work related tasks and was struggling. We were able to provide further training to help the end user.

Deal with unfocused employees and making sure remote workers work.

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have some employees who struggle to stay on task, and others who are remote, and we lack clarity on how productive they are toward goals. ActivTrak provides highly relevant insights and enables us to measure individual performance against the averages for someone in their position, based on their peers at the company. This means we have enough information to help implement corrective action or weed out employees who just refuse to dedicate their work time to doing actual work.

Pros

  • Track total time spent on productive tasks.
  • Compare productivity and at-computer time between employees.
  • Provide reporting that can be used for corrective action plans and dismissals.

Cons

  • Better categorization of what is productive vs non-productive.
  • Adaptive measurements, such as Slack in a call being considered productive, but Slack in a DM session beyond X minutes at a time is non-productive.

Likelihood to Recommend

ActivTrak is well-suited for hybrid companies with employees working both onsite and remotely, allowing you to compare productivity in different locations. It is also highly helpful when you need to discipline or dismiss an employee and need concrete data showing a lack of productivity beyond missed deadlines.

ActivTrak Review for Small Tech Company

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We mainly utilize ActivTrak to ensure our remote employees are working, signing in on time, and are not visiting websites or doing things that they should not be doing. It tends to be a periodic review, maybe weekly, and we don't utilize half of the features available to us just given the scope of our business. It has been a helpful tool though, and we have course-corrected for multi individuals due to it.

Pros

  • Tracking site visits
  • Clear visual on work-day activity
  • Detailed information

Cons

  • Multiple clicks/lack of being able to save views/reports
  • Not an intuitive interface
  • Live views are clunky and not useful really

Likelihood to Recommend

ActivTrak is useful to help keep track of your employees, and set up flags where they may occasionally go awry. I find the number of features to be adequate for monitoring our business, but would be better served if I spent time tailoring it for our unique needs. I don't think ActivTrak is great for live-views.

Get your employees on an ActivTrack

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to monitor our employees productivity and use of company computers and network assets. It helps us verify compliance to company standards and find potential issues before they arrise so they can be addressed quickly and effciently. We have a hybrid work setup and it's very beneficial whether in-office or working from home.

Pros

  • Identifying websites that are off-limits or wastes of company time
  • Employees not working during remote hours
  • Identifying employees that are on the edge of burn out

Cons

  • The dashboard is quite difficult to navigate
  • The reports should be easier to delimit and find the correct amount of data to incorporate
  • It would be great if there was an option for automated coaching by the system when issues are detected.

Likelihood to Recommend

ActivTrak works well for both in-office and remote workers and is well suited for business like ours that rely 100% on online applications to perform our jobs.

Unhappy User

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Many of us work remote so we use it to confirm the employees are working during business hours and the amount of hours they are reporting for their paycheck. We have two employees whose accounts are not tracking accurately in ActivTrak.

We have reached out many times and finally the case was escalated to [...} however he has not reached back out with any updates and continues to say the app is tracking accurately. Clearly it is not when I can pull the report and the data it reports to do not even match each other nor the receipts the employee has on their computer to show they were working while ActivTrak is not showing them working. The owner has requested a refund for the past 2 months since the app has not worked accurately and I have not heard back from the finance team after 10 days of the request. Very disappointed in the response times and lack of support given when things are not going as the app was sold

Pros

  • Giving examples of each KPI that an organization may follow up on
  • Ability to add multiple employees to track under the account
  • User friendly reporting

Cons

  • In my opinion, Chrome OS support or take it off the market until it works properly
  • In my experience, Support team and Finance team reply times
  • In my experience, Support team knowledge, willingness to help when things go wrong and are not fixed by a simple troubleshooting guide
  • In my experience, Lack of support for when things go wrong and understanding of customer service

Likelihood to Recommend

When you do not need an accurate snapshot of when the employee is online, just a general idea that they are performing to some level

ActivTrak - Would Recommend for Increased Productivity.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently use ActivTrak to monitor employee productivity and provide easy-to-read reports to management. The use of ActivTrak is incredibly beneficial for organizations that predominantly employ remote workers. ActivTrak addresses the problem of decreased productivity in remote work and also allows us to monitor task completion more closely. My team uses it every week to send reports to upper management and to monitor any new features.

Pros

  • Concise data points.
  • Easy to read reports.
  • Easy to navigate system.
  • Diverse range of features and reports.

Cons

  • A more detailed explanation is required when updating specific titles within the system. For instance, total time has recently become "screen time". An email notification of this change and its implications would have gone a long way.
  • Easier to read the Activity Log in reporting. Sometimes, when downloading large amounts of reports, it can be cumbersome and challenging to navigate through them.
  • Customized reports feature.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well-suited for ensuring that our remote team members stay on track and productive. It also allows us to see who is going above and beyond, working outside their usual schedule, for example. This helps us make business decisions regarding compensation and promotions. Our plan flexibility also allows managers to monitor their team, while admins can monitor the overall organization's productivity.
