Overall Satisfaction with ActivTrak
We have some employees who struggle to stay on task, and others who are remote, and we lack clarity on how productive they are toward goals. ActivTrak provides highly relevant insights and enables us to measure individual performance against the averages for someone in their position, based on their peers at the company. This means we have enough information to help implement corrective action or weed out employees who just refuse to dedicate their work time to doing actual work.
Pros
- Track total time spent on productive tasks.
- Compare productivity and at-computer time between employees.
- Provide reporting that can be used for corrective action plans and dismissals.
Cons
- Better categorization of what is productive vs non-productive.
- Adaptive measurements, such as Slack in a call being considered productive, but Slack in a DM session beyond X minutes at a time is non-productive.
- High ROI, although likely not easy to measure for wrongful termination threats.
- Identifying and working with great employees that slide has improved their performance by around 20%.
- The only potential negative impacts we can identify are incorrect data application or employee fear upon noticing the tool running.
- Mostly silent tracking.
- Reasonable auto-categorization of activities.
- Productivity hour reporting and application time breakdowns.
It has helped us identify employees who were missing deadlines and not getting work completed due to a lack of focus. We worked with most of those and were able to get them back on track. In other areas, we were able to terminate employees who were not regularly working their hours on task.
This has helped us identify situations where remote employees are not working the required hours and internal employees are overly distracted and not meeting a reasonable workload. Burnout risk is not high at our company, as we are on the more lenient side, but we still need to ensure that work is completed in a reasonable amount of time.
It has made it dead simple for us to deploy the agent onto groups of users to get insightful data on what they are doing and then compare individuals to their peers in that group, so we know what is reasonable for the workload. Previously, it was difficult to determine how much time should be spent "working" versus other time on the computer.
- Hubstaff and Time Doctor
For us, we liked the ease of getting set up with a free plan on ActivTrak to make sure it would have the features we needed. Then we were able to easily scale up using GPO deployment and gain insightful data on groups of employees. While the other solutions are fine, ActivTrak made it really easy.
