What is Autodesk Forma?
Autodesk Forma (formerly Spacemaker) is an AI 3D modeling technology designed to help users discover smarter ways to maximize the potential of a building site. It was developed by Spacemaker in Oslo, and acquired by Autodesk November 2020.
It is used to model complex design concepts in full 3D in just minutes, or to test and evaluate multiple design solutions, and optimize for a multitude of constraints.
Other capabilities include
Forma is available standalone, or also as part of the AEC Collection. The AEC Collection provides a reduced cost bundle of CAD, BIM, and cloud software for those who design, build, and make.
It is used to model complex design concepts in full 3D in just minutes, or to test and evaluate multiple design solutions, and optimize for a multitude of constraints.
Other capabilities include
- Automatic datasets - Forma sources specific datasets such as terrain, buildings, and boundaries (select markets only).
- Smart design tools - Draw fluidly in 2D and 3D with dynamic tools that automate functions and takeoffs while designing.
- Parking design - Rapidly get relevant parking metrics including number of parking spots and access driveways.
- Powered by cloud computing - Continue to design while running analyses in the cloud. Displays the results in seconds or minutes.
- Import and export - With support for file formats, including IFC and OBJ, work can be moved to and from other AEC software.
- Free viewer access - Projects can be shared in the cloud with team members, regardless of subscription status.
