Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use BambooHR® to see announcements, new team hires, celebrations, check holidays and to submit time off requests. As a remote worker it is a convenient an easy way to see staff

announcement and keep track of holidays. The new team hire section

allows staff to answer a few questions about themselves so you can get

to know what their hobbies, favorite music, etc. The PTO request feature

is really easy to use. It also allows me to track past PTO on the

website as well. It is basically an all in one stop.

Easy to use and navigate. I mainly use it for time off requests and quarterly evaluations. As a remote

employee, my experience using BambooHR® has been smooth and reliable. The

platform is intuitive and makes it easy to access documents and request

time off, and keep track of company updates without confusion. I

appreciate how organized everything is, especially since working

remotely can sometimes make communication and documentation harder to

manage. The self-service features save time and reduce the need to reach

out to HR for simple tasks. I am sure HR appreciates this as well.

BambooHR is our primary HR tool in terms of employee time off requests, performance assessment and also recruitment and hiring tool. As C40 is a global organisation, this is crucial in ensuring information and management with regards to talent is manageable through a reliable and easy to use system. BambooHR offers us this flexibility in accessing information, as well as managing candidates during hiring - a process that is often collaborative in nature.

Pros

  • Easy to use interface
  • Multiple functions that cover standard employee management and recruitment
  • Simple and straightforward performance assessment prompts

Cons

  • For time off function, particularly with TOIL (time off in lieu) - it requires users to include a - sign in order for hours to be credited. This can be confusing!
  • Performance management for staff - whilst it's great to have simple 2 questions prompt, it would be great if there is an additional field to allow for other notes to be included.
  • In future, with AI and automation offering possibilities - it would be great to have simple summary of candidate eg. education, experience as part of candidate screening. This can be refined through keywords provided by hiring team, and can help as a high-level first pass screening.

Likelihood to Recommend

Performance management - the prompt questions are really helpful in distilling thoughts! Though it would still be great to have an optional box for additional feedback that might not be directly related to the prompt questions.

The clean interface and user friendliness is a definite plus! But some specific features, eg. on TOIL application - it would be helpful to ensure it is intuitive to use, rather than confusing with the input process.

In my case, I used Bamboo as a human resources management tool. Vacation requests, days off, recording work hours, document requests, etc. It's incredibly useful and user-friendly, with always timely responses and very comprehensive information.Although I didn't use it regularly or constantly, whenever I needed to manage any kind of request, it was always available with up-to-date information, so you can fully trust what it says.

  • it could be a more used tool with the corrrect onboarding

it was an amazing tool to keep track of the payment roll, if there were days off or sick leave, it would keep me posted on wich days were and the reason for maybe be disscounted from my payroll.

It was not suitable por emergency communications cause it would take time for the other person to see the request and answered.

I manage a team of about 20 via the BambooHR® system. I review and approve time cards biweekly including approving time off requests. I help team members use the Goals area for setting personal improvement goals as well as team goals. I also am in charge of hiring for our branch office, so I am familiar with the Hiring/Jobs section of the software.

Pros

  • Digital Time Card Tracker
  • Automated Emails for Hiring
  • Automatic PTO Balance tracker based on submissions.

Cons

  • Sometimes employees who have overtime and PTO in the same pay period...I find it confusing to make sure they have everything submitted correctly. Wish there was an easier way to do this.
  • I've noticed some bugs with the Hiring Emails not coming to my actual inbox. It seems hit and miss...and the status of "opened" or "delivered" etc...isn't syncing with the ACTUAL last email that I've sent to a potential hire or they've sent to me.

We didn't have HR software a couple of years ago...but after a merger I was introduced to this program. Although I'm not a high up admin...I am a manager and it definitely saves me time...not needing to keep track of things in an excel file and email to an outside payroll company every 2 weeks is very nice. I believe it also saves me time with Hiring...not having to manually go and post a job add on every site I want it to be on...the automated features are very much appreciated.

We use BambooHR for paychecks, for benefits tracking, for PTO and sick time management, for performance reviews, and at various times during the feedback cycle. We also use it for organizational management and for training purposes to document what employees have completed training, and for storing all of their training documents.

Pros

  • Consolidates all of the necessary HR information into one centralized location
  • Helps me track all of the necessary information from my direct reports
  • Helps me easily track my PTO and sick time and progress on that throughout the year

Cons

  • The UI is super basic and could use some more color and interaction
  • There are lots of portions of it that are really busy and visually overwhelming

Likelihood to Recommend

It is a one stop shop for all of the needs for anything related to HR or people management. It can handle your payroll, your performance reviews, PTO and sick time tracking, organizational documentation, 1:1 notes and agendas and everything you would need for the HR portion of running your organization.

I am a front line contributor who uses BambooHR as an employee. I utilize BambooHR to stay in touch with company initiatives, view new employees, book my time off, and communicate with our HR team.

  • Get a BambooHR new user orientation as there are features I may not be utilizing.

I use it for training, performance reviews. I also like that it helps me keep all of my info up to date. I can find all the info and certificates that I have completed. BambooHR® also let's me know when I having training to complete and it is easy to access.

Cons

  • Logging in can be a nightmare sometimes
  • Authentication does not always work properly with BambooHR®
  • Some certificates take a long time to register on BambooHR®.

It took over 4 months for me to even get into BambooHR® when it came out. Extremely frustrating. BambooHR® has all My info and it is very easy to update my info. I also like that it reminds me of things that need to be completed.

It is used to support our personnel files, payroll, health insurance and 401K. We recently moved the company 401K to Fidelity and BambooHR® assisted us with setting up a 180 file feed to support payroll and employee contributions. We also recently set up HSA accounts through the portal as this is a new offering to employees and is also set up with the payroll deductions.

Pros

  • It is user friendly
  • It has great reports for payroll
  • It is easy for employees to see all their information in one place

Cons

  • BambooHR® does not offer Workers Comp
  • The response time for when a case is submitted is long
  • No dedicated support specialist

Likelihood to Recommend

It is a good platform for companies that would like to house all their employee information in one place. Although, for a large company ie 50+ employees, I think this might be difficult without a PEO which I have yet to see with BambooHR®.

It does allow you to set up your health insurance, 401K and PTO in a user-friendly system that shares well with payroll.

BambooHR helps with time off management, HR management, performance reviews, and 1:1's. The main problem it solves for us is having documentation all in one place for these items.

  • Customer support is difficult to reach and get quick responses from
  • pricing isn't upfront
  • Some features lack customization

Likelihood to Recommend

I found BambooHR as a good tool for use with my team in conducting our regular 1:1's. The history of those is easily viewable.
