Overall Satisfaction with BambooHR®

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is used to support our personnel files, payroll, health insurance and 401K. We recently moved the company 401K to Fidelity and BambooHR® assisted us with setting up a 180 file feed to support payroll and employee contributions. We also recently set up HSA accounts through the portal as this is a new offering to employees and is also set up with the payroll deductions.

Cons

BambooHR® does not offer Workers Comp
The response time for when a case is submitted is long
No dedicated support specialist

Clear with offerings, deadlines and individual contributions
Good payroll reports for tracking costs

Usability

It is very user friendly and easy to navigate. Although BambooHR® does offer good videos for training when new to the platform and you have a dedicated agent when setting up your account and company portal. After you run payroll though, you spend more time trying to get a live agent to assist and many will just send you a training video or article on how to do it yourself. It would be nice to have a dedicated rep to assist with questions after your launch.

Support Rating

It is often hard to get support after you launch your first payroll and many agents want to simply send you a training video or an article for you to figure it out yourself. It would be nice to have a dedicated specialist like other platforms (paychex, adp, etc). Also, when we have had more in depth questions for tax errors and setting up the 401K, we often had to wait WEEKS to get assistance or an answer.

BambooHR Reporting

The payroll reports are very in-depth and help us to track different costs. Also, we now finally have the 401K integration completed and this helps us to see the platform support payroll by sending the information directly to the investment group and now shares their reports to ensure accurate deductions.

Alternatives Considered

TriNet

I don't know that I would say they are very similar as we use TriNet because of their PEO offerings. TriNet has everything built in and is a good platform for companies with 50+ employees. TriNet also is very legally sound given the type of reporting they do for multiple states and their I-9 verifications.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is a good platform for companies that would like to house all their employee information in one place. Although, for a large company ie 50+ employees, I think this might be difficult without a PEO which I have yet to see with BambooHR®.
It does allow you to set up your health insurance, 401K and PTO in a user-friendly system that shares well with payroll.
