Lots of features with abuse issues

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Bandwidth.com provides a number of affordable services. Unfortunately, they refer abuse complaints to their resellers, and many resellers abuse the system. I myself have received repeated spam phone calls about car warranties and the like, but bandwidth.com support does not deactivate the customer or reseller account after repeated requests. Think twice before supporting a company with policies such as these.

Pros

  • Low pricing

Cons

  • Abuse complaints

Likelihood to Recommend

I do not feel Bandwidth does enough to protect the public from abuse of their services.

Bandwidth -- Voice programmatically done right!

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently utilize Bandwidth among other carriers as a product support out platform. Getting voice traffic in/out as well as text messaging requires a partner. Bandwidth is a great partner.

Pros

  • Support
  • Communications
  • API
  • Documentation

Cons

  • Unify their many portals into one

Likelihood to Recommend

Bandwidth is a great choice when automation is a must. Their API's are broad and include SDK's to make integration snappy. Manual use is also a positive experience through their systems and dashboard. However their support dashboard utilizes a third party (Zendesk) which makes access / experience fragmented.

Long threads within Zendesk, particularly with attachments can make a very long/heavy thread reply and when opening email tickets.

We hope to see all dashboard unified in the future!

Bandwidth Can Save You Money

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Bandwidth is used by the whole organization for number ordering, toll-free services, call routing, etc. We moved to Bandwidth in a decision for cost savings as being a CLEC can be very costly when considering interconnection charges, trunk charges, etc.

Pros

  • Help/support documents (Learning Lab).
  • Constant webinars provided for process improvement.
  • Included in development calls to better the system.
  • Order automation.
  • Competitive pricing and discounts.

Cons

  • LNP rejection assistance.
  • Ticket response times when billing is involved.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are looking to provide phone service without taking on the cost of becoming a CLEC, Bandwidth is a very excellent option. Or scenarios where you need to establish service quickly, using them is a must. They are always open to negotiating costs to you if the proof is there for a discount as well.

Bandwidth -- Top Shelf Service

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Bandwidth for the majority of our origination across the entire organization. We were a telecom network and they were an integral part of our business.

We found their network to be reliable, the porting department capable -- more capable than most -- and their troubleshooting to be top drawer when we did have an issue.

Pros

  • Their porting department does a good job of getting numbers ported. I would have to say that they did a better job with larger ports than with the smaller ones, but overall still did a good job.
  • We found their troubleshooting team VERY easy to work with and to report issues to. They didn't treat my folks as if they knew everything and the person calling knew nothing. They were good listeners, figured out the issues quickly, and responded to escalations in a timely manner.
  • Their network was very reliable, which we appreciated since they made up a good portion of what we used.

Cons

  • While their porting department does a wonderful job, it seems to be the department that feeds other departments. They promote many out of that department to take on more responsibility elsewhere in the company (which is a good thing). However, it leaves us to work with yet another porting person who we have to learn to work with.
  • I cannot really say much else that's negative about them. They do a good job, have an easy to use portal, and respond well when things aren't working.

Likelihood to Recommend

Bandwidth covers the majority of areas where we had customers. However, there are still some areas we would have like to see them cover for calls. They cover more areas than our other carriers, but they did surprise us from time to time by an inability to be able to deliver call transport.

Bandwidth.com Rocks

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Bandwidth.com is a CLEC. My company resells their numbers and service for VoIP communication. The whole company utilizes Bandwidth.com, but I interface mainly with phone numbers including number porting. We are able to order and port numbers through BW and resell to our customers. They have contacts and communication with other CLEC and LEC carriers to be able to port amongst each other.

Pros

  • Bandwidth has great customer service. They are all friendly and super helpful.
  • They are innovative and constantly updating their APIs, UIs, and products they offer.
  • Their UI and API are user friendly and intuitive.

Cons

  • They are actively working on this, but they currently are not able to work with third party SMS providers to separate voice and SMS. There are many companies that offer an SMS product for dental, medical, etc. offices so our customers have increasing requests to use a third party.

Likelihood to Recommend

For telecommunications: porting, new numbers, SMS, toll-free, and voice.

Your best primary term/orig provider

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Bandwidth provides our primary origination and termination for our wholesale customers. Their APIs allow us to seamlessly integrate all of Bandwidth's feature sets into our existing applications.

Pros

  • Customer Support -- Their team is very knowledgeable and they answer the phone when you call, which is a huge industry issue.
  • API (Service Integration) -- They have a very robust API with excellent documentation.
  • Rates -- Their rates are very competitive, and allow us to increase our margins as our customer base grows.

Cons

  • Their dashboard is lacking. We would love to see some additional graphing components, live traffic views, etc.
  • Their E911 infrastructure is still separate, making things a bit complex to provision endpoints and manage them.
  • SMS/MMS is a little behind competitors like Twilio, but still usable and very reliable.

Likelihood to Recommend

Bandwidth is great for wholesale origination and termination. With a decent commitment, you can get great rates, and their support is excellent. Recommended as a primary source of service for voice traffic.

Great Great Great

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use them extensively for call origination, termination, e911, Dynamic 911, SMS (SMPP), and CNAM lookup. We use them as a provider that handles all of these things for our customers. They provide a reliable service that we are able to leverage.

Pros

  • Tremendous support.
  • Reliable product.
  • Great tooling/dashboard.
  • Pricing is great.

Cons

  • 24/7 support is lacking.
  • They prefer working over email.
  • Not always very transparent.

Likelihood to Recommend

When needing a wholesale product, and a reasonable price, they are very good. I might not recommend them if a guaranteed termination product was required.
