BMC Control-M is a digital orchestration platform that help us in connecting applications, infrastructure processes, and data pipelines within the ecosystem. While we are using Control-M, we can define complex job dependencies such as file-based, application-based, and event-based to make it more reliable ecosystem for global clients and users. Control-M is being integrated across our organization with various databases, ETL tools, Cloud-based apps, and ERP systems.

Pros

Control-M is a centralized workload orchestration.
It has strong monitoring and alerting capabilities that helps users to get the alerts while any job get failed or requires any maintenance.
It is a scalable solution that can be optimized based on the requirements.
Excellent integration with majority of the applications such as SAP, etc.
It is very simple to use.

Cons

I believe the user interface needs improvements as sometimes it feels like outdated.
Sometimes managing configurations could be tidy task.
The initial setup is found very complex as reported by the team members.
The licensing cost could be improved, especially for small and mid sized companies.

We utilize the IOA solution, meaning the entire batch workflow is managed via automated scheduling or triggered by external events. Key additional advantages include interfaces with the sysout storage manager and with Mainview, which enables the automatic opening of tickets and/or the sending of emails. Another feature that enhances security and agility is the use of Control-R for job restarts.

The Mainframe interface with Control-M/EM necessarily opens a window to log in to RACF (for example).
Some help topics in PF1 do not have the appropriate text. This is just an observation, as we can easily consult the manuals if we do not find the information in PF1 (online).

Automate business processes and workflows across a variety of systems, both on-prem and off, as well as interact with services and other third party tools. It allows us to get the single pane of glass vision across processes that are critical to the business. It also allows us to integrate with existing systems and vendors without having to reinvent the wheel or spend developer time having to write custom code.

Pros

The software manages our stock and sends an alert to our system whenever inventory is low.
Control-M helps us in generating automatic invoices everyday for our clients.
Control-M also helps us ensure who is doing what and that all jobs are assigned equally.

Cons

I mostly use it on my mobile device, and the navigation is a little Complex and not beginner-friendly.
During initial setup, the software will require a guided configuration to function properly.
Plug and play integrations are little difficult to execute.

As the software can handle most monitoring tasks, we now need a smaller team for detailed monitoring.
The software has also reduced our operational hours, and it is now easy to access billing reports and other business documents.
