Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Employee Navigator to manage our benefits enrollment process as well as manage benefits eligibility throughout the year. We use it to link to our payroll system to keep deductions up to date and in synch. We also link to the insurance carriers to keep eligibility files up to date with them so billing is as accurate as possile.

Pros

  • We have found that our employees require less assistance with open enrollment or new hire enrollment as the system walks them through the benefit election process in a very simple and straight forward manner
  • Reports available are great. The is a great variety and we can easily make our own when needed.
  • Links with our other systems have worked very well so far.

Cons

  • We are relatively new users of Employee Navigator but so far haven't really run into anything that has been an issue.

Likelihood to Recommend

Top notch Benefit management. Setup was straightforward, easy access to reports to match up deductions in payroll, employee engagement was much better than with our last system. Open enrollment reporting helped keep abreast of who still needed to finish open enrollment and who was started but not complete.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We began using [Employee Navigator] a few months ago as a employee benefits platform. It's very user friendly and allows employee to view all benefits offered as well as compare them before making a selection. From the admin side I'm able to upload documents to be viewed by all employees and run customizable reports as well. So far we've very happy with the software and will continue to use.

Pros

  • User friendly for both admin & employees
  • Allows admin to upload documents which are then accessible to employees
  • Offers customizable reports for admin and many beneficial features we didn't previously have with our other platform.

Cons

  • Employee Change Notification emails sent to admin could explain the changes vs me having to login to view from wall. That's the only area I as an admin currently see as room for improvement.

Likelihood to Recommend

We are very pleased with the change to [Employee Navigator] as it offers more what we needed. It's very customizable and has many features that can be added or taken away depending on business needs. I'd only say it would be less appropriate for a business quite smaller than ours who needed very little in comparison.

Expert Navigation with Employee Navigator

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Employee Navigator is in use across our company for staff paid time off, vacation requests, leave requests, team reporting, asset management, and benefits coverage. Our HR team manages the system itself, though every full-time employee uses and benefits from it. This solves our need for an employee benefits tracking system, but also adds asset tracking.

Pros

  • Time off requests. These are easy to perform and track as an employee and user.
  • Time off approvals. Couldn't be easier. Time of approvals or denials are sent via email and are one-click tasks. Also can be performed in the web UI, but it's so easy.
  • Manager reporting. Managers can easily see reports on employee time off and make decisions based on that.

Cons

  • Sign-in and authorisation. Employee Navigator does not use SSO or integrate with identity platforms like G Suite. As a security measure, we'd prefer not to use a separate username/password and instead default to an identity provider.
  • Visualisation. Employee Navigator has some great views, however reports are the most useful part of the platform as a manager. We'd like to have visualisation on those reports.
  • Department-based reporting. Right now there is no way for a manager to see 2 levels down for approved time -- it only seems to show you your direct reports' time off.

Likelihood to Recommend

Employee Navigator is well suited to introduce the beginning of an HRIS to the organisation. There are excellent features for management to keep track of employee numbers and assets.

Employee Navigator is not so well suited as an employee hub. I think the next step here would be to evolve into a directory service that users can use to look up their coworkers' strengths and other work-related attributes.

Employee Navigator -- Such a Time Saver

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are currently using the Employee Navigator system for our benefits management thru our broker. It has made the onboarding process much simpler and a bit more environmentally friendly by cutting out at least 40 sheets of paper given to all new hires. The system is very easy to use and if your payroll system is compatible, the elections could be imported for you -- what a time saver! Employees can also make changes and then you are notified of the changes to approve.

If you utilize the system to its fullest extent, it can be your HRIS! The system is also budget-friendly, as our brokers supply it at no cost.

Pros

  • On-Boarding -- you key in a few pieces of information, submit, and then in a few minutes, the new hire receives an email with login information.
  • Mobile Friendly.
  • The system notifies you when someone makes changes, so you can review and approve.
  • Very easy to navigate through the system.

Cons

  • Honestly, I haven't found anything that I would improve on, except maybe interfacing with our payroll provider (Certipay).

Likelihood to Recommend

I Love it! On-boarding and open enrollment are so much easier now that they are almost paperless. The system is so easy to use and our broker does the back end work to keep the rates up to date.

The employees love that they can make changes and see how it will affect their paychecks.

Employee Navigator from an Agency Perspective

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Employee Navigator as an on-boarding/carrier integration for benefits enrollment options for our clients

Pros

  • Allows for flexible plan configurations
  • Allows employee users to compare plan options and enroll online
  • Provides HR admin/system admin to monitor the status of the enrollment process to ensure employees are completing the required benefits selections

Cons

  • Providing an import or copy option for plan designs and rates would be huge
  • Initial setup is time consuming to build all the plans and validate the accuracy of each

Likelihood to Recommend

If online enrollment with a data feed to the carrier is a must, than Employee Navigator is a very good option. However, if the employer doesn't need this type of enrollment platform or their employees are not likely to embrace it then don't spend valuable resources building the site only to have it done manually anyway

Employee Navigator - Broker Provided Solution

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Employee Navigator (EN) across the whole organization to assist with benefits management and facilitate our benefits open enrollment each year. It has also been a huge help with our ACA reporting and filing. It has been a good addition to our employee self-service options to assist our employees.

Pros

  • Open Enrollment: It is easy to set up and a smooth process for the employees.
  • Benefits Management: We used it to manage overall benefits, which helped a lot with billing and reconciling.
  • ACA Compliance: We use it to track our lookback period as well as to file at year-end.

Cons

  • It is a great stand alone product. We would like it to tie into a more robust HR solution and communicate with payroll.
  • Initially there are a lot of features that are turned off, I like to know what a program is capable of so I can be more strategic in implementing a solution.
  • Having a broker in the middle is both good and bad.

Likelihood to Recommend

EN is well suited for smaller HR teams and companies that are just starting to dabble in HR technology. As an organization grows it becomes painful that it is not a full HR tech solution. It becomes another program that you have to do a duplicate entry into from your payroll or core HR system. However, it is great as a stand alone product.
