EnerGov's software provides a complete solution for municipalities to handle their entire electronic business process, allowing customers to avoid physical visits and increasing efficiency. The software enables cities to process and track permits and inspections as well as providing integrated permit processing, review, inspection, code enforcement, and planning functions. According to users, the software has successfully streamlined the special event process by allowing citizens to fill out one online application that is worked on internally, saving time for both parties. Furthermore, multiple departments can manage and schedule workload in an efficient manner using EnerGov's platform.

However, users have also reported certain issues with the software. New staff members have struggled to understand the complexity of the system. Additionally, EnerGov's reliability has created more problems than solutions for some users. While EH, Soil Erosion, and Building Inspection programs are still within the implementation process, existing customers have reported difficulty integrating EnerGov with other city systems due to html5. Moreover, some users report that the flow of Smart Gov was more user-friendly than EnerGov's platform. Nevertheless, users are hopeful about EnerGov's integration with its other products and that it will make the transition worth it in due course. Overall, according to customer feedback, EnerGov enables various city departments to work from one address source from a GIS perspective and includes work order management functionality in addition to its main features.

Efficient Processes: Reviewers appreciate that EnerGov incorporates multiple processes, such as planning, permitting, and engineering into one place. This feature is convenient for users and helps them save time by not having to switch between different software systems. Many reviewers have mentioned this as a significant advantage of the software.

Mobile Inspections: The ability to complete inspections on mobile apps has been well-received by reviewers. This functionality saves users time and makes the inspection process more efficient. Several reviewers have commented on how this feature has streamlined their work and allowed them to be more productive.

User-Friendly Interface: EnerGov's clear user interface is highly appreciated by staff who find it easy to navigate and view functionality quickly. Users also like the global search and reporting functionality that allows them to easily find information they need. A majority of reviewers have praised the software's user-friendly interface, making it easier for them to complete tasks without any hassle.

Slow Permit Processing: Some users have expressed concerns about the speed of permit processing in EnerGov. They feel that it can be a cause for frustration among the public who are waiting for their permits to be approved.

Duplication and Double Payment Issues: Several reviewers have noticed that the software creates duplicate invoices and double payments, which causes a lot of manual work to fix these issues. This has been a persistent problem with EnerGov since its deployment over 5 years ago.

Unresponsive Customer Support: Many users complain about unresponsive customer support from EnerGov. They find it difficult to talk to someone competent and feel frustrated when their issues are not resolved quickly.

Users have made several recommendations based on their experiences with the software. The three most common recommendations are as follows:

  1. Evaluate the on-premises and hosted versions of the software in great detail. Users suggest thoroughly examining both options and analyzing their features, functionality, and benefits to determine which one aligns best with their needs.

  2. Allocate additional support for training and setup. Reviewers advise overestimating support needs and budgeting for extra assistance during implementation to address any potential challenges effectively.

  3. Spend more time on building and testing the software. Users recommend dedicating ample time to research, ask necessary questions, and ensure thorough understanding of requirements before proceeding.

In addition to these common recommendations, users also suggested talking to other municipalities who are users of the software. This can provide valuable insights and perspectives from those who have already implemented it in similar settings. Overall, taking these recommendations into account can help businesses make informed decisions about adopting this software solution.
