We make the suggestion to utilize Human Interest as a preferred UKG partner on the 401k side of things. Best way I could put it.
Pros
It integrates with our UKG Ready platform and we have good relationships with the people that work at Human Interest.
Cons
Maybe lower implementation fees.
Likelihood to Recommend
Not necessarily, I mean, it's more appropriate if they need a all encompassing 401k platform versus maybe wouldn't make as much sense if they were a smaller company like below 50 employees
We primarily utilize it for its technology capabilities and the seamless integration with multiple Payroll/HRIS systems. This integration streamlines processes for both use of use for our employees and clients, while reducing administrative burdens and fiduciary liability for our executives.
Pros
The ease of use for both executives and employees.
Reduction of administration.
Flexibility of various portfolios.
Integration into multiple payroll / HRIS.
Cons
The loan portion for management and administration to see the loans, but they have been working to fix that.

Actually you guys serve a lot of variety of clients that we have. So everything from simple clients on your 316 and then you got your 338 platforms to some more of the complex clients that want to carve out their own funds. You guys integrate well with financial advisors if they wish to use that, but a lot of times it's, those aren't necessary if clients want to save money.
So the last two organizations I was at, we needed a 401k provider. We both were using a PEO in both instances. And so because of the PEO, it wasn't exactly easy for us to set something up to provide 401 Ks for the team. So Human Interest was our basically provider of choice in both cases. And so it really provided us that ease of both matching for our users with the 401k match that we offered, but also setting them up to easily conduct however they wanted.
Pros
So as a user of it, since I was being paid by these companies, being able to manage my level of risk, being able to manage how much I was putting in from a percentage standpoint was always super easy. Even in a situation where my last company was acquired, we had to go through transferring over to different solutions was super useful. The team was always very open, honest about, Hey, what can we do? How can we work with them? And accommodating in that way. I think as a provider it was so easy to get team members set up. I never had any complaints. I never had anybody worry. I never had somebody come to me and go like, I don't understand Human Interest.
Cons
I think I would call this out for basically any provider in this space that 401k transfers as jobs end and move are always difficult. And so any company that I think figures out how to make that as seamless as possible is winning. That's when I think people need understanding the most is when they're trying to transfer, they're trying to move funds, whether it's too human interest or away from it. And so that's always a place that I think there's room for improvement.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think it's definitely well suited for teams that are looking for a 401k solution. That's the main use case that I've had. So I think that would be the one place I could really recommend it. Whether you're a small organization or a lot of organization that's looking to really have a managed service there, it's going to be beneficial to you but also to your individual team members. Great solution.
So we use it to integrate retirement plans via payroll through our IOL platform and it makes it a seamless transition. So the deductions are all set and ready to go for payroll and we are happy and familiar with the Human Interest Support model, which is why we've referred them for many years.
Pros
They have an amazing reps that are local to us here in San Diego. We network well with them. We support each other. Well sending business vice versa. And really it's the people support and connections.
Cons
I don't have any negative feedback personally. It's been pretty smooth sailing over here.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited. Everyone I've sent to a partner of mine, Connor Slattery's way, they have been extremely happy, so I just know they're in good hands.
Human Interest was a partner company and helped our clients set up their 401k.
Pros
The ease of setup for the plan, the ease of administration for the plan, and the ease of the end user for the plan
Cons
Probably the integration. The integration with smaller payroll providers like Gusto.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited for smaller organizations that haven't set up a 401k plan, especially that are located in those locations where it's required now. So the laws continue to change at the state level. And probably the question related to less suited for whatever reason, and I'm not sure what it was, larger companies seemed to shy away from it and they would go with the more well-known record keepers.
So Human Interest is our 401k servicer. They integrate perfectly with our payroll company and you can do real-time updates as far as your contributions or redistributing funds. I was part of the implementation team that rolled from another 401k provider to Human Interest. It was very simple. We did it right at the end of the year. They were still able to meet all of our deadlines even though it was a very quick turnaround. And our employees are very happy with it.
Pros
One of the things I've heard from a lot of employees was rolling their old, not from our previous provider, but from other companies that they had, rolling those 401k monies over into the system, super easy. They gave us templates, a perfect email address that we could just send everything to. Everything went really smoothly with those. So all of our previous 401k were rolled in with the stuff that we just moved from our other provider.
Cons
The only thing I can think of right off hand is that there's a day delay when we look at our total. So for instance, we heard the other day that there was a rally in the markets on Friday and that everybody had supposedly recouped all of their losses from March. We actually had to wait the whole weekend until Monday to log in to actually see what those were. And I know real time is really, really hard, but anytime we could get something faster, that would probably be my only.
Likelihood to Recommend
I would say for small companies it worked really well. We have less than a hundred employees and like I said, implementation was super fast. I honestly don't know how it would be for a larger company, but their customer service has been great. Anytime we've needed anything, we can just call.
So we switched over to Human Interest for our 401k benefit at the end of 2023, beginning of 2024. And what we were looking for was a way to automate a lot of the processes of getting people enrolled and then allowing users to manage their own account. One of the problems that we had with our previous provider was that there was an intermediary broker basically, and he really wasn't doing the job and he wasn't available to answer questions, he wasn't getting people signed up on time and it was creating a lot of problems for us. So we wanted to find a solution that was going to be more streamlined and allow our employees to take more control over their benefit.
Pros
First of all, communication. 10 out of 10. If we have a question or we need support, we know who we need to go to, we get pretty rapid support. We can always schedule a meeting and our rep is really great at answering the questions, reviewing the questions, making sure everything got handled, and then also sending us a summary. I like that, having that record. Another thing that Human Interest does really well, they handle all of our ERISA filing for us and all of the end of year reporting and everything that we do. We also do profit share for our employees. So they take care of all that for us. Really the only thing we have to do is tell them a dollar amount and they take care of the rest.
Cons
So one thing that is sometimes tricky as an admin, logging in to the portal and then being able to distinguish between me as an admin versus me as an employee. Sometimes that's a little bit tricky. That could be a little bit more streamlined I think. Do they even have an app? They have an app? Maybe I don't use the app. Maybe that's the problem.

Well growing companies for one very well suited the automation process. They integrate with other payroll softwares and things like that, so it's really easy to get employees in and out based on their status. I think any company that's growing the name of the game is time and the less time you're spending on managing that kind of stuff, the more time you have to grow and scale your business. So I really think it's great for that. I guess if you're a boss that likes to micromanage everything, it may not be the best for that. They really do handle it. I don't know when Human Interest wouldn't be a good fit.
So we've had this tool for about two years. It's our first 401k program actually in retirement program that we ever rolled out
Pros
It does well. I love the user interface. I love the integration piece with our HRIS, which has been really great. I know our employees like it as well. It's very easy to edit your selections, adjust your contributions. So overall, very user friendly.
Cons
That's a great question. I actually don't have any recommendations. I've used a lot of different softwares throughout my career and I would say for me, not speaking for my company, but for me this is the best. So I don't have any recommendations.

I think it's well suited for a lot of organizations. Whether or not you're a startup or enterprise, I think it's got a little bit of spark or it's got a little bit of personality. So I think you have to find the right client and that's where I think the match was made, but also we're very partnership focused and so the ability to work through that partnership the way that we were onboarded as well. So I think that that was really great. On the verse of that, I don't really have anything on the other side of that.
We transitioned from John Hancock to Human Interest and the busting was that everything integrates. It's a very hands-off approach for HR and it saves a ton of time and everything is automated.
Pros
Best thing is automation For enrollment, I don't need to create a separate calendar reminder. All of that is sent automatically from the Human Interest System. I would say that's probably my favorite part.
Cons
Room for improvement. Honestly, I don't have any off the top of my head. I had a really good experience. I'm just looking to bring my new company onto Human Interest.

I think now whether you are 18 years old or 70 years old, everybody is on the computer or on a smartphone. And Human Interest is very well versed and user-friendly for any age, any clientele
