I use Microsoft Powerpoint for presentation slides for internal and external audience.
Pros
provides useful, modifiable template slides
integrated with chatgpt, so slide templates can be downloaded from prompts
easy to use, more design layouts are available with stock image suggestions
Cons
hard to generate elegant data visualizations when database is extensive
difficult to edit infographics like tables and maps because of limited control panel of design tools
Slides can glitch during presentations, requires exiting presentation mode.
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft Powerpoint is best suited for simple presentations that don't have any extensive data visualizations built within the slides. Using Powerbi infographics can be copy & pasted into the slides to showcase more elegant data visualizations.
I use it on a Daily Basis to create slides, explain and document topics. Use it as a presentation tool but also as documentation tool. We use it for almost everything in the entire organization. It solves our problems of visualization of business decisions, presentations, basis for everything. The scope is from easy picture editing to creative logo creation.
Pros
Provides many options
Creative freedom
Integration with other applications
Cons
Functionality to select all shapes in the entire presentation to one color automatically
Merge function
Saving under function is in microsoft teams not possible.
When pasting from different presentations the pasting with source style or not is too difficult
No automatical adjustment of footer name and numbers
Likelihood to Recommend
For tables not good to use. Some basic formatting functions are available in word or excel but not Microsoft Powerpoint. And vice verser that’s for a user of all products confusing. Pasting tables to Microsoft Powerpoint not well usable. Also big pictures and high res slides make Microsoft Powerpoint slow. Maybe easy function of size reduction.
I use Microsoft Powerpoint to design executive presentations for C-level professionals. This product helps me tell stories based on data, to drive better business decisions. The shortcuts and customizations allow me to be extremely efficient in terms of time. Embedded tools like links to Microsoft excel as well as add-ins for data visualization are extremely helpful in my scope. I also enjoy the online syncing of files, so that I never lose my data and others can collaborate with me at the same time.
Pros
Easy, customizable shortcuts like aligning objects, editing fonts and colors, etc.
Integration with Microsoft Excel for data visualization and automatically updated charts
Templates like table of contents that automatically link to the chapters are very useful
Cons
Smart Art can really improve its graphs
Tables should be defaulted to redistribute columns and rows
Sometimes the links to Excel files get lost and I never understood why
I wish there was an easier way to save graph templates and defaults in a same presentation
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft Powerpoint is useful for building stories in an easy, intuitive environment and also in a fast and time efficient way. Its tools are more straightforward than other presentation software. I think it’s less appropriate when trying to show several data graphs, like in a dashboard, for which a BI software might be better suited.
I'm in Advancement for education and much of my job includes writing specific, customized proposals for prospective donors to the organization. Often, the gift officers I'm working with don't have experience with Adobe, so I needed a solution to be able to design a document, lock certain elements, but leave some accessible so that a regular person would be able to edit as needed on the road. It's an unconventional use for Powerpoint, but it's also exactly what I needed. Of course, I also use it for presentations both professionally and personally.
Pros
The ability to integrate with other Microsoft apps
A decent array of design elements that make it possible to create beautiful presentations and documents
Presentation modes that allow the presenter to take notes unseen by the audience—helpful for collaborative work
Cons
For my typical use, I'd love more options for print export
I'd like the ability to lock a theme for a document so that my collaborators don't accidentally go off-brand
Animations still feel rudimentary

I find Powerpoint to be extremely user-friendly. It's helpful for a variety of projects and can be used outside of its intended uses for create effective documents. I often prefer it over Microsoft Word for that purpose, especially for my older coworkers who are frustrated by the formatting limitations of Word.
I use Microsoft Powerpoint for sooooo many things. Not only do I use it to make presentations, but I also use it to make newsletters (so much less annoying formatting than in Microsoft Word), movie posters for upcoming safety training, flyers, brochures, and so much more.
I have been using Microsoft Powerpoint for the last 28 years. Some of the improvements have actually helped speed up the time it takes me to design a presentation. Plus, they have so many free templates inside Microsoft Powerpoint. The "Designer tab" is a must, no matter if you are new to graphic design or if you have been doing it for years!
You can change the orientation (portrait to landscape) with a click of a button.
Another really cool feature is that Microsoft has FINALLY made adding YouTube videos a snap. Plus, you have many more controls over how the video plays (automatically, loop, and full screen). In the past, if you clicked on the link, it would open up your local browser, and then you had to watch ads and maximize to fit the screen. Trust me, it was a pain in the butt to have to do that. Now, in Microsoft Powerpoint, all you have to do is click on the insert tab, navigate to the video, click on the down arrow, select online video, and paste the hyperlink to the video. It is that easy. I'm still trying to figure out how they avoid ads.
Pros
Create great presentations
Helps you to design each slide
You can rehearse your timings (if you have an allotted time to present)
You can provide individual animations to each slide (something Prezi cannot do!)
You can add 3D images from Microsoft's library
The formatting is the most user friendly in the Microsoft Office platform
Stock images
Cons
The YouTube link DOES NOT work as advertised. Every video will more than likely have ads you have to click skip. I just edited the video with my snipping tool
More templates
More design options
More font recommendations

The learning curve with Microsoft Powerpoint is not too steep, and most everyone can create really nice-looking presentations. The thing I like most about the new advancements in Microsoft Powerpoint comes to formatting. If you are creating a newsletter, don't get bogged down by all of the annoying formatting rules and issues you would have if creating in Publisher or Word. Microsoft Powerpoint makes it very simple. You can add text boxes and move them anywhere on the page.
The templates are a nice touch, but they could use more, as most of these are outdated. I believe there are many free websites for downloading more templates.
I use Microsoft Powerpoint to create courseware slides that are converted to Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate. I also use Microsoft Powerpoint for storyboard creation, instructor-led training visual aids, and business presentations and a platform for creating vector art symbols and shapes for conversion into Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere projects and Blender 3D.
Pros
Instructor-led training visual aid tool
Animated slideshows for business presentations
Quick vector art creation tool
Slide content for importing into Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate
Interactive Kiosk interface design tool.
Cons
3D objects that can be manipulated in slideshows by presenters
AI tool to cleanup presentations
AI tool to create graphics
AI tool to create photo-realistic images
AI tool to create vector art
AI tool to create videos
Blender 3D object importer

Well suited for: Business presentations, storyboarding, instructor-led training, content slide creation for courseware, interactive kiosks and slideshows, logo design, posters, scalable PDF text, multimedia integration. Not well suited for: 3D object manipulation, layer editing, object trigger programming, complex graphic themes, advanced audio editing, advanced video editing, advanced photo editing, 3D modeling.
Microsoft Powerpoint is used for the presentations that matter most in our business. When I need a slideshow that makes an impact, I'll use Microsoft Powerpoint over Google Slides, for example. In particular, I use for awards presentations. I organise a couple of major awards ceremonies and Microsoft Powerpoint helps me handle the on-stage presentation with ease. We can embed images and videos, use effective transitions and attach music if needed. It's easily controllable and widely used by the AV industry meaning we can be confident that whatever our awards ceremony, we'll be able to use Microsoft Powerpoint.
Pros
Enables easy embedding of pictures, videos and music.
Handles transitions between slides easily
Allows you to copy slides to give you a head start on new slides where you want similar formatting.
Allows you to test your presentation and time it.
Cons
The automatically generated designs are hit and miss. Sometimes they work, but often they don't. Better automation would be helpful
Easy integration of live social media feeds would be an interesting addition.
Connection to stock music library options would be useful.
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft Powerpoint is ideal for delivery company presentations where you want to convey information in a visually striking way - one that use images, video, graphics, sound or tables for example. It's easy to build a slide deck and add different elements, duplicate or remove slides, re-order them and then spin through them to focus on those that matter during your presentation. It's also well suited to awards ceremonies where you have an AV controller handling the music to fade in and out at the right moment. It's less suited to awards ceremonies where you are the sole controller, as there is less flexibility than you might want over sound.
We use it to provide a guide and training of our employee benefits to new employees. We explained all our company benefits using MS PowerPoint, and the slides are nice visualizations that will help them remember what was discussed during the training process. It is a great guide and tool, and the ease of use is very, very nice.
Pros
Ease of adding or removing inserted photos or images.
Ease of set up with bullet points.
Ease of use with visualization.
Cons
There is an issue with saving the file once changes are made. A save has to be done.
I think involving more AI with ease of use on structure of the Powerpoint Presentation.
Also AI to help with wording and grammar.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited in bullet point presentations that are quick, simple, and to the point. It is not so much for any policy or procedure set us. It's more for visualization because, for some, it's easier to retain what the subject was about with a great image or visual of the presentation.

My organization allows us to access the entire Microsoft 365 package which means we have access to Microsoft word, Excel, Powerpoint etc. In our organization, we use Microsoft Powerpoint to prepare presentations, helping in management strategies, communicate assessments and providing visual aids to stakeholders.
For my use case, being a Software Developer responsible for designing and developing web applications, I use Microsoft Powerpointto craft presentations for detailing objectives, communicating timelines and going over resource requirements. At the same time, it helps in summarizing technical information into digestible slides for a diverse set of audiences. Most of the Knowledge Transfer sessions which i conduct are also done using Microsoft Powerpoint.
Pros
Microsoft Powerpoint allows to choose from a host of templates and themes which makes it really easy to use. With the new suggestion feature, this feature has become even more powerful and helpful
The User Interface of Microsoft Powerpoint is quite advanced when compared to other tools in the market such as Google slides
I really enjoy how easy it is to integrate media within the slides and format them for visual aid
Cons
The formatting tools can be better places. Right now they are a little scattered throughout the UI
Microsoft Powerpoint lacks the ability to draw within the slides. Its often easier to use tools like draw.io and import images
Apart from the suggested templates, its hard to find new templates. It is less intuitive and suggestion tool, although is pretty powerful, but can be improved
Likelihood to Recommend
Some specific scenarios where Microsoft Powerpoint is very well suited is giving Knowledge Transfer sessions or conducting workshops. It helps to intuitively organize information logically which facilitates in better understanding. At the same time, it is easy to incorporate hyper-links and questionnaires into the slides, making it easy to involve users.
Microsoft Powerpoint really makes it hard to present/add detailed information into the slides, making it look ugly. Any scenarios where detailed information needs to be presented is really hard with Microsoft Powerpoint.
We currently use Microsoft Powerpoint for creating both in person and remote presentations and learning material. We have paired this product with Ispring which allows us to design interactive and responsive training courses that we can present to an LMS through Scorm files. We also use Microsoft Powerpoint to plan and narrate some of our course material finally exporting this as an MP4. This has been universally easy, and Microsoft Powerpoint is a program that most of the people we work with also have access to.
Pros
Page layout
Media Insertion
Presenter interactions
Compatibility with Plugins
Cons
Recording of Audio for presentations
Application of Colour Schemes
A way to turn of layout designer permanently
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft Powerpoint is well suited for creating presentations, slideshows and we have used it to create front of house video files using the animation and export to mp4 settings. It is not appropriate when people use it in place of a desktop publishing platform like publisher or for long documents when word would be more appropriate.
