Reviews
(1-25 of 105)Ease of use
- Ease of use
- banners
- Customer Segmentation and Targeting.
- Very Customizable in its capabilities.
- High-level reporting.
- Very HTML-heavy in some aspects.
- HTML module selector is not always accurate.
- Masking can be difficult to figure out.
Monetate - a great starting point
- Segment user for AB testing
- Personalized recommendation
- Inject campaign based creatives
- Scope for Automation and real-time integration with Web
- Masking can be difficult to figure out
- Need a longer learning cycle for users to leverage all the capabilities available in the suite
We're new users but mostly happy with it so far.
- Easy to use interface.
- Seamless for the end user.
- SEO is not affected.
- Personalized site means greater retention and interest.
- Doesn't always work with active or JS controlled elements on the site.
- We use a lot of support hours to implement experiences.
We haven't found it that effective for converting for revenue in our market but we are not in a traditional e-commerce business. A normal retail site would see bigger benefits that we do.

Awful experience, would not recommend if you actually want to improve on your business KPIs
Experiences were set up to improve product discovery, increase use of site search and to improve conversion through promotional periods.
Some a/b tests were enabled, however the majority of experiences on site had no control, so we had no comparison or variance data.
- Tested a variety of theories
- Created experiences focused in different parts of the website, homepage, PLP and PDP
- Little to no analysis provided by CSM on experiences
- A lot of experiences were created without a control, so there was no data comparison to give clear insight
- Shocking communication, often over promised and under delivered
- Found the Monetate dashboard hard to use, confusing and unclear where to find key information
- Unfortunately with such lack of support, we were unable to create any experiences independently
- A/B Testing.
- Custom Targeting.
- Intuitive user interface.
- Lack of information in the Knowledge Base.
- Prior experience with coding (HTML, CSS, Javascript) is a huge asset to use the Action Builder tool.
- The queue to speak with developers to help set up a test or confirm an account setting is very long.
Monetate Review
- Targeting. We get to target different branches across the UK and also we can target users whether they are logged in or not.
- Quick Win. Changing something as a reactive response is super easy with Monetate and saves us going into our CMS.
- Analytics. We can see our each of our events perform.
- In my opinion, the only thing I would change is finding the right blog/help guide to use.
Kibo Personalization, Powered by Monetate is a fully functional
- We do not know of another program that gives greater solidity to all your administrative content on the web, this program promises greater control to all its users in the cloud.
- We can work as a group on the web thanks to Monetate, part of our mission is to work comfortably from our mobile devices and share our content immediately.
- I like Monetate because of the multiple aspects that I can modify to my liking as well as download them to work without depending on a Wi-Fi network.
- Time is required to be able to achieve the objectives with this program, since it is not very easy to use and run it in its best version.
- It is very important to train before implementing this program, since its interface becomes much more complicated with each update, this can be improved by making it much more organic and simple.
- This program still has a lot of potential to exploit and to generate a better management for the exhibition of our products, it can be a bit complicated to show the product on the web without limitations with the image.
A platform hampered by poor technical support
- Audience segmentation is relatively painless. They provide a robust way to granularly target visitors by device type, location, weather, demographics, etc.
- Our CSM has been very engaged and detailed in supporting our partnership. She provides very prompt responses and clearly works hard to push the Kibo team when possible.
- The User Interface to develop new actions is not terrible.
- Supports Single Sign On, which is the preferred method of managing users at my organization.
- In my opinion, the Automated Personalization feature is lackluster and I regret purchasing this feature. It does not have the flexibility to personalize by the variables I consider important in visitor segmentation - notably, not considering marketing channel as a predictor.
- Monetate's development team is terrible. Turn over is high, we've gone through 3 dedicated developers in less than a year. Every one has shown ineptitude within their platform, regularly requiring months and quarters to find what should be common knowledge for folks to have access to the backend code base. They don't know their own documentation and have provided us with conflicting (re: wrong) information. Their failure here is the main driver in our considering other vendors.
- There is a lot of nuance in their platform. Anything not done quite right will cause hours of headache to resolve. This was not the marketer friendly platform that was promised us.
- In my opinion, Monetate has failed to provide testing and statistical expertise and guidance. We have scheduled 3 sessions with their statistics specialists, only to be given a marketing spiel, rather than specific explanations on how their algorithms work and should be implemented within tests as best practice. They have not shown any understanding on how to understand the results of a test and how to provide recommendations to leadership. We've gone through 2 strategy sessions that stopped because of turnover and have not picked up since.
- Monetate does not have any integration with Adobe Analytics, our web analytics platform of choice. As a result, their generic implementation is STILL creating bugs and affecting our analytics tracking after 7 months of debugging.
- Product Recommendation Algorithm. Monetate does a great job of creating different algorithms that we use on our PDP pages as well as category pages. The tool has excellent machine learning capabilities and saves us a lot of time not having to hand merchandise the recommendation strategies.
- Real-Time Analytics. We use Monetate for A/B testing and it's a great feature that we can see sessions/clicks in real-time.
- Customer Support/ Tech support. It's extremely difficult for us to get timely responses from our representatives. It's not unusual for us to have to wait several days to get a response. In the 2 years, I've worked on our Monetate account, there has been almost constant turnover in employees which has required a lot of time for our account reps to get up to speed with our business. There's not a lot of transparency into our account rep's tickets with developers. Truly, it would probably be easier for us to directly contact the developers ourselves.
Kibo Personalization continues to be a great product - needs some improvement for headless websites.
- A/B Testing
- Targeting
- IT Workaround
- Able to be used by non-developers.
- I wish it worked better with headless architecture. There has been frustration around it being able to easily identify elements on the page using the builder in a headless environment.
- Would love for more proactive suggestions and QBRs like what was done in previous years at Monetate.
Monetate is a blast to use!
- Extremely flexible campaign creation.
- Very intuitive user interface.
- Custom targeting based on internal datasets and site contents.
- Helpful tech support.
- While effective for personalization, there are limits to Monetate's ability to run personalization at scale.
- Monetate has a limited ability to nest personalization inside A/B tests, for example, to test 3 pieces of content targeted to 3 customer segments vs. 5 pieces of content targeted to a separate breakdown of customer segments.
- The ability to target a campaign to visitors who have seen a specific variant in another A/B test is lacking.
Powerful multivariate and personalisation tool!
- Multivariant Testing.
- Product Recommendations.
- AI Personalisation.
- More Flexibility with recommendations logics.
- More involvement with experience planning and strategy.
- More events to keep up with what other companies are utilising monetate to achieve.
Impressed so far.
- Recommend products.
- Provide related products.
- Out of stock products recommended.
- Un-related recommendations.
- One to one recs
- Clear reporting on optimisations
- Ingestion of data for targeting
- Flexibility of testing and personalisation options
- Advice on how to score and prioritise tests
- Case studies
- More webinars from other retailers, and more events bringing users together to share best practice
- Our account manager wasn’t that helpful but we have now switched and the new person is great
Helpful tool!
- surfaces frequently bought together products
- surfaces customers also bought products
- the interface can be fiddly
- make it easier to group together products to remove people being offered completely irrelevant products
- not surface the same product types as "frequently bought together"

Monetate - Digital Magic Tape!
- Relatively easy user interface to use. We have separated our Monetetate hub by site - very easy to use.
- Building tests or experiences has a good builder addressing what you are building, where it is targeting, when the experience should run and why
- The majority fit setting provides a good low risk way of determining if a fix is a 'winner' or not
- A very helpful and extensive Knowledge Hub
- Searching through all the experiences or tests you put online is reliant on a very robust naming convention
- We would like an easier place for notes for each experience or test to be stored so that these are searchable. This allows things like project briefs to be summarised for the purpose of the wider team
- It would be great if Monetate had an improved preview function to allow you to view an experience on the device and screen resolution of your choice. Currently, to fully test your experiences, you'll need a few browser apps which allows you to mimic devices, clear cookies...
- A smarter way of building out variations for tests would be useful. Occasionally, a test that has a lot of different variables (but ultimately quite similar) will require you to setup multiple experiences to achieve this
Whilst the majority fit works well as a low risk way of showing that a test will work, it does not give you learning or insight as to why something does or does not work.
