Splashtop - A Cut Above the Rest

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We support over 400 computers in the field using Splashtop to provide seamless access to resolve IT issues. Beyond remote access capabilities, the tool also provides a method to transfer files from your local PC to the client PC (or vice versa) to facilitate installations or assist with diagnosis. This is a core tool that we utilize every day and are able to bring our clients under our umbrella and grant them access to their computers from home as well. It is truly a win/win situation.

Pros

  • Remote Access
  • File Transfer
  • Log activity
  • Deploy easily on Windows
  • Remote printing that actually works

Cons

  • Data transfer rates could be higher
  • Allow for resolution change on the host side instead of needing to open the streamer on the remote device as seeing things could be difficult

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for any MSP, MSSP, or IT Manager who needs access to a broad array of machines and values their time. Great for an individual who just needs access to their work computer from home. It might not be suited for environments where national security is involved.

Great Remote Access

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Splashtop is being used across the organization. It solved the problem of remote access for my employees. Since covid, employees have been able to work from home to avoid using sick time. I can also log in from wherever I am on an appointment to give real time quotes to the client.

Pros

  • simple sign in
  • split screen capability
  • remote access

Cons

  • system sometimes hard to access
  • screen slow
  • hard to "wake up" computer some times

Likelihood to Recommend

Splashtop is great for when Im on the go and need to access my computer. It is tough to sign in sometimes but good for the most part. I also like that I can access on tablet, laptop or phone. It makes it easier than calling into my office to speak to someone.

Splashtop is a great tool for accessing clients computers.

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

One department, and mainly one person, is using it. It is to access clients' computers for accounting purposes.

Pros

  • Connection is usually steady and at normal speeds.
  • Keeps from us having to drive to the client's place of business.
  • Able to print directly to my printer easily.
  • Ability to save reports and files directly to my computer.

Cons

  • It works for everything I need.

Likelihood to Recommend

Great for remotely accessing customers' computers, so I don't have to drive to clients' offices. When called with a software issue, I can log in and help them. Just thought of something I don't like. The computer screen stays on, and people can see what you are doing. Usually not a problem, but at one place, it could be due to non-office employees entering the room.

A simple way to effective remote endpoint login

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have a couple of use cases for Splashtop here. Our IT department use it mostly for remote login to support and assist end users across our geographically dispersed organisation. End users also make use of it to log into office and factory endpoints from the road or from home to use and control certain apps that we have that don't work well over VPN or WAN connections.

Pros

  • Easy remote login
  • Secure remote login

Cons

  • I've used a variety of similar apps and to be honest, I don't think Splashtop has any major failings. It's my favourite so far.

Likelihood to Recommend

Splashtop is very easy to use, with a simple and intuitive interface. Whether connecting regularly to one endpoint or choosing from a list of devices on a domain, it's quick to get logged in and assisting someone who needs assistance right away.
We also use it for using and monitoring applications that can't be used over a WAN or VPN, requiring local access to large numbers of big files etc. It makes it so simple.

Splashtop - The Do It All RMM.

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Splashtop across 200+ endpoints at our MSP. It allows us to provide remote support and RMM access to those endpoints, enabling us to service more clients than if we only provided on-site support. It is a reasonably priced option for what we use it for, and Splashtop support is generally quick to respond via chat.

Pros

  • Provides remote access to computers.
  • Provides several integrations including Antivirus and endpoint patching.

Cons

  • Splashtop remote fails to connect or properly enumerate multiple monitors on the remote computer about 30% of the time. Closing and reconnecting normally allows a proper connection.

Likelihood to Recommend

Splashtop is a good, inexpensive remote computer access product for internal use or MSP use (we use it as an MSP). In our case, we use it to remotely access and assist our clients' PCs, enabling us to provide near-instant support to address their issues quickly and conveniently.

Best remote access software hands-down

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We switched from a competitor over to Splashtop a few years ago when we were having connectivity issues.

We've found that Splashtop is as or more secure than competitors, the price is amazing and the service is also amazing.

I use the remote access to backup company files for our water and waste water treatment plants, as well as to perform updates and make programing and configuration changes remotely. It saves me hours of commuting for issues that would take only minutes.

I can also login at the same time as other users and troubleshoot issues remotely in real time.

My water and waste water operators can log in remotely to change plant controls and acknowledge alarms, which sometimes prevents a call in/drive in from home on nights, weekends and hollidays.

We absolutely love the reliability, convenience, ease of use and of course the price.

Pros

  • Multiple Connections
  • Reliable Connection
  • Remote File Transfer
  • Remote Rebooting and Updating

Cons

  • Grouped billing prices for users
  • More options with MFA

Likelihood to Recommend

I can only attest for admin type purposes and operator/operations purposes where 24/7/365 access is needed.

It makes work convenient at odd hours and days.

Pros

  • Easy functionality via desktop
  • Very convenient and easy to use mobile phone app
  • The service is aways running smoothly and quickly

Cons

  • Always would like the system to connect faster although it is never slow

Likelihood to Recommend

Pros

  • Fast
  • Secure
  • easy to use
  • easy to manage

Cons

  • Could use some automation for management of users

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for just about any situation where a business needs to provide remote access to a bunch of machines or certain machines. Management can assign users to machines individually or by groups.

For the last 5 years it has been a reliable and indispensable tool. It allows real-time monitoring. It addresses LogMeIn's surprise price hikes. Even with RMM, this tool is important.

Pros

  • Remote Access: Simple to use.
  • Monitoring: App opens and computers are just there.
  • Reliability: My team has never had a problem with access.

Cons

  • Low resolution mode not hidden behind premium.
  • Ability to turn off MFA for users.

Splashtop Solved All My Needs

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am a volunteer for a local non-profit, assisting with their technology needs. The organization houses a large second-hand store (accepting local donations) using the proceeds to assist in clothing local, low-income students. Their needs include many older volunteers that have a low understanding of technology. The organization has a network that includes a Windows file server and 5 desktop machines. Their network switch is advanced, connecting computers and VOIP in a shared environment. With the office located 9 miles from my home, I needed a solution for connecting remotely to resolve minor user issues and to provide proper server maintenance without the need for travel. I learned about Splashtop online and was pleased with the price of their basic plan. Decided to give it a try with their 7-day trial. The software was quite simple to configure and I was using it within minutes of deployment. Of course, my needs are minimal compared to teams managing large networks but I am confident the solution would work equally well in those environments.

Pros

  • Remote Server Management
  • Easy to understand user interface
  • Allows me as a volunteer to spend more time on issues since travel is not needed

Cons

  • A VPN would be helpful for some non-remote access duties

Likelihood to Recommend

Based on the price of their basic plan, Splashtop is easily the best solution available for small installations like mine. I am confident with their security implementation and reconnection to devices after a remote restart have never failed me. They feature many higher-level tools and solutions but I've just never needed to use them.
