Business Problems Solved

SPS Commerce is a versatile platform that is widely used across organizations to streamline order processing, invoicing, and other key business operations. Many users have found value in using SPS Commerce as a supplier to receive Compliance orders through Webforms and send response documents back to vendors. This helps centralize the flow of data, reducing the time spent on order processing and notifications. Additionally, SPS Commerce proves to be a cost-effective option for smaller companies looking to implement EDI and meet vendor requirements.

Another significant use case of SPS Commerce is its role in enhancing convenience and efficiency in order management. By utilizing SPS Commerce Fulfillment, users can easily receive orders, track inventories, and process invoices. The platform eliminates manual order entry errors, allowing for the processing of more orders without the need to hire additional staff. With SPS Commerce, customer service representatives can effortlessly access order information, while the accounting team can create invoices without complications.

Furthermore, SPS Commerce aids in providing visibility into the entire order process, making it easier for organizations to track and manage their orders effectively. However, it is worth mentioning that some users have faced challenges with change orders and closed purchase orders showing up in the queue, leading to time-consuming investigations and communications with support.

Despite its usefulness for many users, some individuals have reported negative experiences with SPS Commerce. Criticisms revolve around issues such as complicated platforms, inadequate training resources, and unhelpful customer service. It is essential for users to carefully consider alternative EDI solutions rather than blindly accepting initiatives presented by SPS Commerce as mandatory. Ultimately, understanding individual organizational needs will determine whether SPS Commerce is a suitable fit for streamlining operations and meeting business requirements.

In my opinion, Please stay away from this company

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In my experience, we are forced to use SPS Commerce for testing with certain relationships. Because of this, we have to deal with them when we do not want to.

In my experience, their onboarding and testing, along with support, are beyond slow and do not provide any help other than generic answers. In my opinion, they are the epitome of "ball is back in your court" answers that provide no help.

Pros

  • I think they have a nice UI
  • I think they have a nice login screen
  • I think they use nice colors in their UI

Cons

  • In my opinion, Support
  • In my opinion, Onboarding
  • In my opinion, Cost

Likelihood to Recommend

I would plead with anyone to please consider anyone else but SPS Commerce. To me, the fact that they are such a large player in the EDI space is baffling. To me, the only explanation is their ability to convince companies to use them for their testing, which I believe then forces users and companies to set up and get sucked into their vacuum of despair.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SPS Commerce in order to receive orders from Chemist Warehouse. We tried the Assortment module as well but found that SPS's 196 column spreadsheet required to enter product data did not work for our products. We are instead submitting Chemist Warehouse's product data requirements in their own spreadsheet which is much more efficient than SPS's EDI software.

Pros

  • It convinces retailers that it meets their needs and then places the burden and cost on wholesalers to make it work

Cons

  • The Assortment module requires filling out a 196 column spreadsheet for all SKUs captured in the module. This is extremely manual and hard to use. Most fields are not applicable to specific products, but must be filled out regardless.
  • SPS Commerce seems to make an easy task of sharing spreadsheets between suppliers and retailers extremely complicated and inefficient.

Likelihood to Recommend

Would not recommend on the basis of functionality, cost and customer service. Would only use if required by a retailer (as is the case for us).

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In my opinion, SPS Commerce is the worst in many respects. I believe the platform is complicated, the training is terrible and customer service is useless and this is not based off one experience but many over the past two years. In my opinion, more importantly, I find them to be very dishonest and take advantage of their customers and try to squeeze very dime out of their customers. In my opinion, I would never use them again and do not recommend them to anyone.

Pros

  • Nothing in my opinion

Cons

  • customer service
  • training

Likelihood to Recommend

In my experience, I would give the a zero if available! I had many issues when using their platform and found it very confusing. I believe the training was horrible and customer service worse and basically non existent costing us thousands of dollars in penalties from our retail customers. In my experience, I tried to cancel many times over several months only to get billed over and over and still happening. In my opinion, it's a bad company and bad service.

I think if you choose SPS Commerce willingly, you hate money and like buying contractual failure.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

SPS Commerce is forced onto our organization. I think it's their business model. They purchased our dedicated in-house translator with the acquisition of Data Masons. I'm here to lower their score and tell the truth about SPS Commerce. First, in my 20 years of experience with EDI I think they are hands down the worst performing, least experienced developers in EDI. We have evidence of their numerous failures. In my opinion, their business model is to approach retailers and hijack their vendor base, creating programs and forcing compliance with retail executives who are eager to please SPS Commerce as it lowers their cost of EDI. I believe if consumers learned how much SPS Commerce is costing them as a middle man in the retail supply chain there would be a revolt. But no, instead, in my experience, SPS Commerce crams Google search results with their marketing and, in my opinion, they pay reviewers to come to sites like this and write their obviously scripted praises, damage control, instead of letting the truth come out. I've been approached by former SPS Commerce employees critical of them who've let me know the company was coming at them legally in their new jobs for derogatory comments towards SPS Commerce. In my opinion, they are truly a bad company, filtering their lies and using contract law as revenue while failing to deliver on a near constant basis, meanwhile proclaiming themselves leaders in EDI. I think [...] and crew bought their way to the top, it was never about performance. In my opinion, avoid the scam, pick any other EDI solution or provider and vendors should NOT agree blindly to initiatives presented by SPS Commerce as "mandatory". You probably don't have to participate in what they're calling mandatory if you're a valued supplier.

Pros

  • Never heard of a success with SPS Commerce

Cons

  • In my opinion, they can quit gouging customers with contract law while delivering no product or service.
  • In my opinion, they can quit forcing their way between suppliers and retailers for revenue.
  • In my opinion, they can fire [...] and find ethical leaders to run the company.

Likelihood to Recommend

I wouldn't recommend SPS Commerce to a man dying of thirst in the desert if they were the only company still selling liquid. In my opinion, they are not suited for anything besides selling their business and exiting the industry. I think this would save consumers, retailers and suppliers the millions in revenue SPS Commerce claims each year.

Run as far away as possible

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We looked into using SPS Commerce as an alternative to TrueCommerce for our EDI integration software. After initial discovery calls that claimed functionality built into the service, we decided to make the switch from our current provider as it claimed to be more expansive. Upon signing our initial contract (which they will not do a full consultation without a signed contract - GIANT RED FLAG), it was discovered that the functionality would not work with our current systems and there was no benefit of switching from our current provider to SPS Commerce. However, they claimed that "you signed a contract, regardless of whether you use the software or not you owe the money." Long story short, we ended up in mediation costing a small business significant amount of money and legal fees. SPS Commerce is deceptive and cares more about short dollars than customer experience. Look at the BBB website for more information

Cons

  • Customer Service
  • Providing any service at all
  • Initial Discovery

SPS Commerce waste time and money

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We were required to use the system to do business with one of our Customers. It is a tedious method. However, the vendor was paying for it so we played along. Once we were forced to move to pay to receive our orders and then other customers decided to use the system to send orders, it quickly became a problem. We pull orders, ship, and invoice and receive no error messages. Then a month and now up to six months later we are getting notices for change orders and or closed p.o.'s are showing up in the queue. Orders that have been processed and already been paid. We are spending too much time investigating and pulling old invoices, sending documentation and imputing info, and then having to send support emails of screenshots of the issues. We knew in 2010 that the program was glitchy and chose not to move to it with. Maybe it works for a large company that has products that cost pennies on the dollar and they can hire someone to sit and play with the system and send support emails all day, but for a small company that is receiving one p.o. a month or week from customer to have errors every time we get into the system is ridiculous. It seems like the industry partners are trying to tell me how to conduct my business, charge me for it and not give decent service for their product.

Pros

  • They bill for their service

Cons

  • Support could respond to emails immediatly
  • They should fix the system
  • Too many steps involved and waste a huge amount of time

Likelihood to Recommend

I would not ever reccommend it to a friend or colleague.

SPS Commerce Fulfillment Review

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it across the entire organization; customer service, accounting, and operations. We use it to process orders from customers, and the subsequent invoicing. We send order confirmations or acknowledgments, create packing lists when applicable and also to create ASN's. Right now we are a small company but look to expand and grow.

Pros

  • We can easily create and send order confirmations.
  • We respond to the corresponding receiving departments with timely and accurate ASN's.
  • Once the order has shipped, customer service utilizes the invoicing function.

Cons

  • When creating an ASN, and filling out 'multiple' pieces; if there are only 2 SKU's on the order SPS should default select the only 2 options instead of us manually having to go in and check boxes to include those items.
  • Same for single item shipments, why do I have to indicate the SKU that is shipping if there is only 1 SKU?

Likelihood to Recommend

With the "preferences" menu properly filled out, it is a huge time saver in data entry across many functions, including order confirmation, automatic ship notifications, as well as invoicing.

Great product and service

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SPS Commerce Fulfillment to automate the order input process for our largest e-commerce customers where order volumes can really spike during our peak seasons. This allows us to process more orders without hiring new seasonal employees and eliminate any order input errors that can happen with manual order entry.

Pros

  • Automate orders into NetSuite
  • Send/Receive order status updates to retailers
  • Ability to take an out of the box product and tailor it to your needs

Cons

  • Better 'user manuals' to provide for new trading partner implementations so steps/procedures can be easily passed along to colleagues and other users
  • Better communication from project managers as far as expectations and guidelines

Likelihood to Recommend

I feel that SPS Commerce Fulfillment has a great out of the box product that is suitable to many organizations, but they also have the ability to scale and customize it to fit the needs as companies grow and change over time.

More business - Less stress - Life is Good

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

SPS Commerce Fulfillment is being used by our customer service dept and our accounting dept. It allows the customer service reps to pull order information from one place, which is very convenient from the user, and it allows our accounting team to invoice easily versus sending out invoices with the hopes of getting an answer.

Pros

  • Accurate information on orders that arrive
  • User-friendly to invoice the customer
  • It alerts me as to when I have an order available, which is very convenient

Cons

  • We have quite a few people here who use this portal, and we have it set up to receive an email when an order is available to print. As of now, you can only add a few recipients to receive those emails; it limits you.
  • Invoicing is challenging at times as you have to remember to go in and invoice. If you forgot, it is hard to find the order to invoice, as it seems to disappear.
  • We still haven't figured out how to have some of the invoicing features auto-populate, so there isn't so much to fill out. I wish some of those features were easier to use, or find if you have them.

Likelihood to Recommend

SAS Commerce Fulfillment is a good fit for our company as we process hundreds of orders a day. When I get the alert that an order is ready, I can click on the link in the email, and it takes me right to the SPS Commerce Fulfillment portal to print the order. Very convenient and easy. It is harder to remember to invoice, as nothing alerts our team as to when it is time to invoice. You basically have to remember.

I would have chosen something else, if I had the option.

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SPS Commerce Fulfillment as our fulfillment tool with one of our retail partners. It makes it much easier to track and manage orders and also look at where we are at in the order process. I think the tool is useful but often find it takes at least a day to get anyone to get back to me with questions which leaves room for improvement.

Pros

  • Shipping document generation
  • Shipping label generation
  • Being a single source for tracking purchase orders

Cons

  • Customer service response time
  • Does not allow you to delete a document sent in error
  • It sometimes archives even when you aren't entirely done with document submission.

Likelihood to Recommend

I think in terms of elevating the ordering process with the specific client we use it with, SAS Commerce Fulfillment was helpful, but there is definite room for improvement as some of the functionality of it doesn't make sense.
