all-in-one platform

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Squarespace is easy for non-technical employees and business owners to understand and use. Once it is set up, it's easy to update information, photos, etc. The all-in-one model is convenient to avoid managing multiple subscriptions for various apps, plug-ins, etc and hosting/domains are included. However, it can also be pretty restrictive and frustrating at times, especially for designers/developers used to other platforms.

Pros

  • minimalist design
  • easy to navigate
  • all-in-one platform
  • saved "templates" or "blocks"

Cons

  • inflexible design
  • inability to adjust spacing as desired
  • inability to adjust fonts without changing the entire site

Likelihood to Recommend

Squarespace is great for small business owners who require an online presence but don't need a super robust website with more flexibility/options. The Squarespace features have grown a lot since I first started using it in 2018, and I only expect that to continue. Despite having ecommerce and membership features, I don't feel I can recommend Squarespace for those types of websites over other options.

Easy Domain Management Tool

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Squarespace for email domains.

Pros

  • Is very easy to purchase domains
  • Easy to transfer domains
  • Easy to attach domains to email servers

Cons

  • Dont want to connect to google workspace, but could be good if a company used that

Likelihood to Recommend

We used it because another domain provider said a domain wasn't available but they did. So it was easy to obtain a domain that we thought we wouldn't be able to get without a huge price tag.

Cheap and easy site building and DNS for those who want to build fast

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Squarespace primarily for DNS services and domain name registration. I am a researcher at a university, and I need a DNS registrar service for obtaining domain names as well as a nameserver service for modifying DNS records for experiments. I also use it to host my own personal research website.

Pros

  • clean, modern-looking interface
  • standard A/NS record setting is simple and foolproof
  • Site building tools are topical but useful for quick building

Cons

  • DNS record setting is somewhat constrained. Not all record types are supported, and the input to the record contents is limited. This makes it hard to recommend for novel DNS usages.
  • Slow and unhelpful customer service.
  • Certain domain names are blocked for registration, with little explanation as to why they cannot be bought

Likelihood to Recommend

- DNS services are very cheap.

- Basic DNS setup is easy to follow.

- Website builder is foolproof and creates great-looking sites with no code required. Useful for beginners and when you want something up and running fast.

In general, Squarespace makes anyone capable of setting up a simple, professional-looking website. The pricing is also very competitive.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Squarespace as my website platform to direct people to my business, [...]. I host my blog, book club and information about my career mentoring services on my website. My website gives my business credibility and allows people to find out more about out my services.

Pros

  • User friendly
  • Aesthetically pleasing
  • Consistent

Cons

  • I do not like the upgrade in the editing software. I regret updating any of my pages to the fluid editor and won't update any of my pages that are still in the old editing style

Likelihood to Recommend

Squarespace is a great platform if you are an inexperienced web designer and would like to build an aesthetically pleasing website. It is perfect for hosting a blog. I also use it to integrate with acuity scheduling, which has worked very well for me. I find it easy to upload and sell my digital products as well.

Ease of use and excellent functionality

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently use Squarespace for our website and all the products and services we offer. Our social media and marketing manager integrates with this system every day and finds it very easy to navigate and offers a wide level of services and options for us to utilise. There are numerous functionalities available and also is easy to use for the team that only interact with it on a less frequent basis

Pros

  • variety of options
  • ease of use and navigation
  • professional look
  • great reporting

Cons

  • the invoicing would be good in a pdf form for our accounts

Likelihood to Recommend

We have some events and conferences that are dotted throughout our calendar year. Squarespace offers the option of adding these products to the website and the function to then hide. This offers great flexibility and is less labour intensive and more time efficient. Also the option to build reports based around our individual products is really helpful in our reporting for specific products or for quarterly results

Great for first time web developers

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization uses Squarespace for a few tasks: purchasing website domains and developing websites for other companies. We have created multiple websites in a variety of industries using Squarespace. We use this to typically build smaller micro-sites rather than full-blown websites as we will normally want that to be developed on Wordpress.

Pros

  • Domain Registration
  • Web Development
  • Album Storage
  • Domain Purchasing

Cons

  • Training user-base in making sure smaller businesses can be optimized for SEO.
  • AI Text generation for making content optimized for their site.
  • Video series that could train someone to be able to use the platform to make people who are regular business owners become web-savy

Likelihood to Recommend

I would suggest Squarespace to anyone who owns a small business and wants to build a website. Squarespace is easy to use and edit. However, unless you are trained in best practices, oftentimes, sites will not get high organic rankings as the platform will not teach their customers best practices.

Great customisation and user friendly experience

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We built our website in-house on Squarespace. Allows us to have tight control over our public content and keep it up-to-date.

Pros

  • User friendly experience
  • Feature rich
  • Attractive websites

Cons

  • Conversion from their older platform to their newer platform is non-existent. We had to rebuild our website from scratch to take advantage of new features
  • The blog section on the new platform uses the functionality of the old platform

Likelihood to Recommend

Any basic to medium complexity websites are really well suited to Squarespace. Especially those who don't want to fork out big dollars to have someone design and manage their website.

Squarespace Checks All the Boxes!

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our team uses Squarespace predominantly to create a variety of landing and squeeze pages for marketing messaging and engagement. We use different forms of advertising to drive people to these pages and manage everything with UTM codes and sort through the data with Squarespace's built-in analytics and also incorporate Google Analytics.

Pros

  • Quick creation of pages through a drag-and-drop interface
  • Copying of pages to quickly duplicate ideas and themes
  • Creation of online forms with storage on Squarespace AND 3rd party products like Google Drive.
  • Inclusion of video very easily into a page to enhance user experience

Cons

  • If a number of folders/containers are created for themed pages, sometimes the drag/drop functionality of putting new pages in order of dragging them into a container does not work.
  • Sometimes the style/theme functionality limits the potential to do things 'outside the box'
  • Occasionally, when using 3rd party connectivity for certain storage tasks, the connection will be lost and the data does not get stored.

Likelihood to Recommend

Squarespace is one of the best solutions out there for building a website or web experience that looks good, has great functionality and is cost-effective, even for smaller businesses. Although most people in marketing will find most of the elements intuitive, if the creator is struggling with any of the functionality, there are many, many support options and other users who can offer assistance.

Squarespace is a great fit for small businesses.

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it as an easy way to spin a one-off landing page/promotional page.

Pros

  • Designing good looking websites doesn't require a lot of technical experience.
  • The content types are rich.
  • Editing content is very simple.

Cons

  • The user management can feel clunky.
  • More advanced template options if desired.

Likelihood to Recommend

Small business websites are great for Squarespace. They are easy to set up without prior experience, and you can get started very quickly and iterate later. For any larger corporation or business/organization needing a site tied to a CRM, I would not recommend Squarespace.

Quick, cool, trusty website builder.

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We launch websites faster with Squarespace for new events and services, allowing a modern, functional design with integrated modules. For innovation events, we embed other tools like the Miro whiteboard for ideation and Notion timelines for project tracking. I love that I can easily manage all my websites and domains in Squarespace and add collaborators securely.

Pros

  • Quick website design.
  • Integrations with other tools.
  • Management of multiple websites.

Cons

  • Would like to see more flexibility with duplicating sections of designs between websites.

Likelihood to Recommend

Great for quick, secure website design.
