Overall Satisfaction with Squarespace

Squarespace is easy for non-technical employees and business owners to understand and use. Once it is set up, it's easy to update information, photos, etc. The all-in-one model is convenient to avoid managing multiple subscriptions for various apps, plug-ins, etc and hosting/domains are included. However, it can also be pretty restrictive and frustrating at times, especially for designers/developers used to other platforms.

Pros

  • minimalist design
  • easy to navigate
  • all-in-one platform
  • saved "templates" or "blocks"

Cons

  • inflexible design
  • inability to adjust spacing as desired
  • inability to adjust fonts without changing the entire site
  • high ROI: minimal investment for a great looking website
  • ongoing management costs in terms of time is minimal (easy to update internally)
  • annual subscription is somewhat more expensive than other options
Squarespace is easy to use, even for people who have never built a website before. I always tell people that if you can navigate a Word document, you can update a Squarespace website. Of course bigger changes require more skills and time, but overall it's easy for staff to use.
Each website platform has a place. Squarespace is great for simple informative websites, especially small or local businesses that are not ecommerce. Shopify is the leader for ecommerce website. WordPress is my favorite for website that need more features and flexability. My experience with other website platforms is pretty minimal because between these 3 I have everything I need.

Do you think Squarespace delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Squarespace's feature set?

Yes

Did Squarespace live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Squarespace go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Squarespace again?

Yes

Squarespace is great for small business owners who require an online presence but don't need a super robust website with more flexibility/options. The Squarespace features have grown a lot since I first started using it in 2018, and I only expect that to continue. Despite having ecommerce and membership features, I don't feel I can recommend Squarespace for those types of websites over other options.
