We use Stripe Payments to facilitate online transactions. We sell games and other digital products and use Stripe integrations to automate fulfillment of these items purchased through Stripe Payments. This allows us to offer an alternative purchase method to other platforms for our customers, and when a customer purchases through Stripe Payments, we save quite a lot on platform fees because Stripe's fees are less extreme.
Pros
Ease of use for customers
Dashboard is excellent
Integration options are excellent
Dependability (we've never had a failed transaction because Stripe had a technical error!)
Cons
Stripe's documentation isn't terrible, but navigation seems relatively slow for the content that is actually served.
There are a few rules that seem strange/arbitrary to me (ex: you can create a 100% off one-time-use coupon but it can't actually be applied by a customer to a purchase) and I never got an explanation.
Their transaction fees aren't the lowest in the field, and lower introductory rates to start out would probably be nice for a lot of people.

For setting up online purchases, Stripe Payments is the standard solution right now in my opinion. If you're doing purchases mainly in-person, this may not be the right fit, but online, even for digital items, Stripe is excellent especially given all the possible integrations and control you get through their dashboard, even before using any custom code.

We use Stripe for on-site payments and link it to our accounting platform so people can easily interact with our payment systems. It's great because we can also use it to set up one-time payment links, QR codes, and specific links that we can then track and generate reports from.
Pros
One time payment links.
Refunds if requested.
Generate reports.
Allows you to see your available balance.
Shows any failed payments.
Cons
I generate monthly reports and use the custom function, which could generate a more simple report when you just want to see the amount, product, and one or two other elements.
Sometimes, customers have issues with payments. I'm not sure if this is with the 2fa or an actual Stripe system issue.

We had a client who wanted a QR to use in their marketing, which enabled their clients to donate to us. It was so useful to be able to set it up, and we can track the views and donations received using this code. Another client with issues with our website wanted to set up a monthly subscription, so I sent her a payment link, which worked brilliantly. For clients that want to make one-time donations, it also lets the client choose the amount. The only scenario where we haven't been able to help is when clients want to change the card associated with the payment - whilst we understand it is for security/gdpr, it means they have to cancel and set up something new, which poses the danger that we may lose them as a customer.

I use Stripe Payments daily for client payments. So far, I have not figured out how to add the processing fee to clients that have subscription payments.
Pros
Integrates with Xero.
Easy payments for clients.
reconciliation.
Cons
Show less coding unless requested.
separates processing fee into separate transaction when feeding into Xero.
processing fee not processing on subscription/recurring payments.
Likelihood to Recommend
Stripe Payments is great payment tool for our firm as most clients pay by card. I do not use the ACH feature of Stripe Payments as I believe the process is too confusing for clients especially over the age of 60.
We use it to pay for our own software subscriptions and process payments from our customers for monthly, annually and taker percentage surcharges for events set up.
Pros
Monthly SUbscriptions
Annual Payments
% Surcharge
Cons
Refunds - can be difficult to process and having to explain to customers about not receiving the Stripe Payments % back can be awkward.
Likelihood to Recommend
Pretty much can be used for anything, only time is if people have another payment provider who has a better % option.
From my experience, BEWARE OF STRIPE! THEY ARE EXTREMELY SHADY (in my opinion) AND JUST TOOK MONEY OUT OF OUR BANK ACCOUNT. They almost bankrupted our business. Our private keys were leaked somewhere, no fault of our own, and someone tried to do card testing using our keys. All of the payments were blocked due to our diligence, but stripe froze our account and started blocking all of our legitimate payments. No one at stripe would ever help us or give any information regarding how long it would take to get our account running again. We called every day and could never get any information other than a special team was working on it. They also decided to debit our account over $2,000 dollars and just took it out of our bank account. They were very unprofessional and just hung on up us on the phone, wouldn’t respond to emails, and caused our business to be at a standstill. They have acted extremely shady, and unprofessional, and we would never use them again under any circumstances. After two weeks of no response, we decided to use another payment processor.
Disappointed. Its been now 1 year that Stripe does not seem to be having interest to resolve my problem. On my very own website, my own card is being declined by Stripe. Upon using the same card via Paypal the transaction is successful. Upon individually verifying there is absolutely no problem with my issuing card or my bank. I have already verified that by speaking to them. It seems like Stripe just want to continue declining without giving a valid reason. My customer conversion rate has taken a massive hit due to this. Looking for good alternatives. Although my business grows and stripe gets more payments via me, they dont want to have tier based fees/charges. Whether you give stripe a revenue of 100$ or 10,000$ you are the same for Stripe. I am Customer from India and they have not kept the tier system for Indians. Thanks Stripe, very helpful !
Pros
good exchange rate
prompt customer service though without a resolution
Cons
willingness to resolve the customers issue
lower payout time to sellers
bad rates even though my business is scaling up

Stripe shut us down after processing $8k~ of payments, as they flagged us high risk, we take credit card authorization forms on everything and are a CPA firm, one of the lowest chargeback industries.
They also took back the money after we provided services, making it stressful for our team
I use Stripe to process tickets for payments for the event I organise.
Pros
Stressing me out so I can't sleep.
Freezing money for no reason.
Discriminating black business owners.
Cons
Being fair towards the customers

<b>Held 50,000 EUR and asked me to take a loan to pay my contractors.</b>
I'm a small business owner, who organises workshops for dancers once a year. This year, to increase the experience of participants, I decided to accept card payments with Stripe, instead of manual transfers. Stripe without any warning froze 50,000 EUR and after a few messages going back and forth, they said (get ready for it)... to take a loan so I can cover the costs, as they will not release the funds until the event takes place (!!!). It's the 4th time I organise this workshop, never had a single dispute, and I run a legal, registered business.I don't have any funds to cover the costs, and my credit score is too low to take a loan (what's being ridiculous itself), so now basically I'm stressing out, crying, and seeking legal advice, to not get massacred by the community I've been building for years and lose my future in extreme debt. I believe you should avoid it like fire, especially if you're a small business.
We started using Stripe as our CC payment processor when we switched over to a new ERP system. Stripe is used for both manual and online orders. If we get customer financial information via phone, fax, or email our customer service department uses Stripe's online portal to process those payments. Our eCommerce sites use WooCommerce and Stripe has a really nice plug-in that helps process online payments.
Pros
Stripe is easy to use (Enter CC information).
Stripe is easy to integrate with most websites.
Stripe works with businesses to offer the best rates.
Cons
Could offer some better processing rates.
Most compatible updates on website modules.
Check up on client success.

Stripe is very suitable for small businesses. They provide you with a nice portable CC scanner when you sign-up. If you have an eCommerce store Stripe will most likely be compatible with it. Even if you have a more custom site built using Wordpress/WooCommerce Stripe has a free plug-in that's ready to use.
