In my opinion, Run away from SurePayroll

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a household employer the utilizes SurePayroll to pay our nanny and complete our tax filings for state and federal. In our experience, SurePayroll is an absolute nightmare that has left us with notices of liens and warrants on both the state and federal level. Critically important tax cases will go unanswered for months. In our experience, customer service has no ability to resolve cases - they are not even able to provide proof of payment. Oregon Department of Revenue said SurePayroll is lapsing on payments and does random lump sums and that our account is “a mess”.

Pros

  • In my experience, Ignoring customers
  • In my experience, Not paying taxes
  • In my experience, Stressing out customers
  • In my experience, Closing out support cases with no communication/resolution
  • In my experience, Causing anxiety and worry

Cons

  • In my experience, Actually paying taxes
  • In my experience, Providing proof of payments
  • In my opinion, Having customer service that can resolve support issues
  • In my opinion, Having a real tax department
  • In my opinion, Being accountable

Likelihood to Recommend

I would not wish liens and warrants on any other family trying to pay their nanny by using SurePayroll

In my experience, horrible implementation and value

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Transitioned our payroll practice to SurePayroll (30+ clients) and has been an awful experience for us. For a guaranteed service, I'm receiving more letters from taxing agencies than ever before and, in my experience. unable to get service to correct problems. In my experience, numerous erroneous filings of tax forms with no resolution in sight. In my experience, VERY frustrating for clients and my staff. I could not in good conscience recommend this software - in my opinion, expensive and incorrect.

Pros

  • Pulls the payroll and taxes out

Cons

  • Onboarding
  • Customer Service
  • Ease in Reporting Problems
  • Solutions to Problems
  • Employee Access to Portal

Likelihood to Recommend

In my experience, really brings my profit margin down, is the cost of having a dedicated body with the additional expense of a part time person to field all the letters and notices on incorrectly paid and filed forms.

If you want something unreliable sure payroll is great

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am a user of SurePayroll and I wanted to say I hate it. Anytime there is a holiday the check dates go out of whack by a WEEK. My employees need their checks and when you chat with their support they are unable to fix it and just tell me to wait. They do not have a solution and say once it gets set in the system there is no undoing or changing anything. It is truly miserable as a user.

Cons

  • Basic payroll functionality
  • Basic support
  • Fixing their errors
  • Employee portal
  • Taking ownership of mistakes

Likelihood to Recommend

Not suited to be an online service. Just an orphan child of paychecks that does not get updated

SurePayroll Review

Rating: 2 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Surepayroll to process payroll for 12 different companies.

Pros

  • Good and easy to navigate website
  • Little to no problems using the website over the past 6 years

Cons

  • Customer service
  • Hours of hold, in my experience
  • Being rerouted 5-10 times for every inquiry, in my experience

Likelihood to Recommend

I've used SurePayroll for over 6 years. System is good, overall through the many years I've had little to no complications with the actual website. I'll admit they have a great program that leaves you with little to no complaints. However if something does go wrong and you need help, you'll wish you never did business with these people because the customer service department is useless, in my opinion. Hours and hou you'll get rerouted 5-10 times and most of the times (9/10 times) at some point during your hold you'll get someone that would rather drop your call then deal with resolving your problem, in my opinion. When I say hours I mean minimum 3 hours to get anything done. I believe It's a endless holds and frustration. Most problems never do get resolved, in my opinion, I just either figure it out myself or give up on them all together. In my experience, when I finally gave up and canceled my services with them they were happy to charge me a fee in order for me to continue accessing all previous reports and files however gave no guidance as to how I can do so since they terminated my log in. In my experience, Now 4 hours of hold later I'm waiting for someone to pick up and give me new log in credentials to obtain previous employees W2. In my experience, 4 hours later , 2 people hung up on me, still no solution in sight. In my view, you would think a unique and complicated problem is at hand. Again, great website but long wait times on the phone makes it not worth it at all, in my opinion. I believe it would be better to go with a smalltime company that you can easily reach when you have a problem. In my opinion, a company that cares about their customers enough not to put them through such frustrating holds and incompetent representatives. Im sure they have plenty of smart and capable people that have gotten them this far but unfortunately, in my experience, I've never been lucky enough over the past 6 years to speak to one.

Terrible Customer Service

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used it for payroll only.

Pros

  • Take money from you.
  • Deposit money for you.

Cons

  • Support.
  • Technology.

Likelihood to Recommend

Terrible. Support hold times are 90+ minutes and I have had to talk to about 7 different people to try and get things done. We had a complete mess with transitioning people from one company to another and they took months to sort it out. My overall experience has been very bad and the bounce from person to person within their team AND THEIR LACK OF INTERNAL COMMUNICATION is alarming. I would switch but I cannot chance them screwing up again and creating tax issues for my employees. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience every time I try and deal with them.

Payroll company EDD fraud

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

This company processes payroll for the business listed and I use Square for another so I can keep some separation and confusion to a minimum when processing payroll. In my opinion, the issue is that one of SurePayroll's tax specialists contacted the EDD directly and moved payments that were directed for my other company and moved them to be used for JC Blu Inc. This of course started the snowball effect of failure to pay notices along with assessments from the EDD for the company Sure Payroll does not represent. By the way, I found out all this information by calling the EDD myself because of a lack of response. Calls to SurePayroll to address this fraud have led to no solution and even the manager who was supposed to call has not after me leaving 6 plus messages. I believe you should stay away from using this company.

Pros

  • Nothing

Cons

  • Follow up

Likelihood to Recommend

I believe SurePayroll fraudulently transferred money for payroll taxes from a corporate account they are not associated with. In my opinion they moved this money without authorization into a business that uses their service, causing many assessments from the EDD for the other business that does not.

Fraudulent Business Practices

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I hired a nanny for our two-child nanny share. SurePayroll was the service we chose to use to pay our nanny. Two families set up accounts on SurePayroll, as we each paid half of her salary. SurePayroll cut the checks, produced payroll reports, and filed necessary tax documents.

Pros

  • Doesn't do anything particularly well

Cons

  • Setting up schedules is counterintuitive
  • Reports are not customizable
  • Fraudulent business practices

Likelihood to Recommend

SurePayroll conducts fraudulent business practices. The service itself is mediocre. UI is counterintuitive, scheduling paychecks is arduous, payroll reports are not super customizable and hard to find/run, and tax info is somewhat hidden. But it does cut checks and handle tax filings. The fraud part comes in when you want to cancel your service. I tried using the website, emailing, and calling. Each time I was pointed to a different mechanism for canceling, none of which worked. Finally, after reconfiguring my pay schedule (which I didn't need since I was canceling), I was able to unlock the part of the website that allowed me to cancel. Even then, I had to click through about 10 screens, including two that made it look like they'd canceled my service when they had not as well as a screen that froze for over a minute. In addition, I no longer needed their service halfway through the year, but if I wanted them to file tax documents for the year I needed to keep paying them (for literally doing nothing) for the rest of the year. Do not recommend it.

Worst Customer Service for a Payroll Company

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a user of Payroll for over 4 years. This is the 1st time have I really needed support and the service is horrible I have had a case since April 1, 2022, and today May 6, 2022, 25 BUSINESS DAYS, and they are unable to locate where the funds are. The waiting time for a representative is being from 1 hour up to 3 hours. The "Award Winning Customers Service Team" is only good at giving apologies.

Pros

  • giving excuses
  • make you wait for extended periods of time on hold
  • making you feel frustrated because nobody can resolve your issue

Cons

  • Customer service
  • should assign a case to a specific representative and not everybody does everything
  • should have a feature to speak to specific customer service rep

Likelihood to Recommend

Is a cheap option to do payroll for a small company...but beware when you have a problem customer service is deficient. Representatives are not trained, have no knowledge...

SurePayroll reduces payroll errors and tax problems in our company

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We consider that although the application has some vulnerability problems, it has an excellent functionality to perform all kinds of operations in terms of payroll, payments to suppliers and withholdings of special taxpayers from anywhere for the busiest managers. The customer service section is very effective, apart from being very cordial when requesting information or support of any kind; it can be in asking for guidance in problems with payroll payments, taxes and much more without any problem. The usability of SurePayroll is really effective and easy to use, running a payroll operation and payment of the same has never been easier, the adaptation of our administration department with the application has been very fast.

Pros

  • The program is intuitive in nature, if any payroll representative is unable to perform the process, the system itself can guide us to complete the payments and calculations.
  • SurePayroll sends monthly automatic emails to remind us of overdue payments, payments to be made or when a new employee has joined the company to take all pending actions and update payment data.
  • The application takes full legal responsibility when occasional errors occur. When we have incurred by system errors in fiscal problems, they have a delegation that takes care of the situation without involving us.
  • With SurePayroll, if you know the necessary rules, you can calculate the taxes that a company must pay and file. On the other hand, the application automatically presents a report of the taxes that are cancelled to avoid tax problems.
  • Apart from tax payments and payroll creation and payment operations, the application files and processes payments with 1099 contractors and creates complete W-2 forms in a very practical and simple way.
  • It is really easy to set up the statuses of incoming and outgoing employees and run related reports. Likewise, their tax processing system is above and beyond expectations.

Cons

  • License fees have been increasing significantly every year for the last four years or so and we feel that if we were a slightly smaller company, we would not be able to afford it. However, the application prevents us from constant legal problems.
  • The application sometimes changes statuses when updating payments for accounting purposes. On occasions, employees receive payroll payments and in the following month their status changes to recent contract, so at the system level we must fire and rehire them to change it.
  • When a payroll error is made at the time of processing payments, the application only gives 30 seconds to reverse the operation, otherwise the operation is impossible to cancel.

Likelihood to Recommend

We use SurePayroll to make monthly payrolls in our company, as well as to close the month and year with all the income and expenses and most importantly to make tax payments. The application is perfect for making payrolls when the personnel adapted for it is not in the head office, SurePayroll has an application for mobiles that allows to make these operations remotely. The application is perfect when you want to make immediate payments, at the time of loading the payroll to the system, it proceeds to automatically perform transactions for each employee entered without any error.
